The location
is perfect for exploring the Luberon and Provence. It is 1km from the medieval
hill-top village of Menerbes with its restaurants, bakery, butcher and grocery.
Very close in the other direction is the Luberon mountain, with its many hikes
and cycle trails.
All the
other beautiful hill-top villages that make the Luberon famous are within 15
minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux,
Roussillon, Lacoste,
Goult and Oppede-le-vieux.
20 minutes away is the town of Isle sur la Sorgue, which is the antiques capital
of France, also known as the Venice of Provence. Fontaine de Vaucluse is also
20 minutes away.
Within an
hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence,
Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.
There is
a market every day in one of the surrounding villages. For a guide to
the area, including the villages, restaurants and markets, see TheLuberon.com.
Good day-trip
destinations are the Cote d'Azur, Marseille, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the
Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.
