The
vine-clad villa is surrounded by terraced gardens, extending over 2
acres, planted with the flora of Provence: lavender and green oak; rosemary,
cypress and olive trees. By the pool is a large lawned area for children
to wear themselves out.
The villa is set out lengthways, so that most rooms enjoy the wonderful view - and this also gives room for two outside seating areas on the stone terrace bordered with mature lavender. The
wooden dining table and chairs outside the kitchen seat 8 for breakfast,
lunch and dinner, with a pergola and shade overhead. |

Arriving
at Les Gardies always makes the heart a little gladder.

On a level below the house is the 12m x 5m swimming pool. It has two security alarms which alert you to anyone falling in when you are away from the pool (but are no replacement for parental vigilance). There are sunloungers, chairs, side-tables and two sun parasols. In a store room the drinks fridge saves on trips back to the kitchen. |
