Buoux - blink and you miss it.
This house seems like it is a hundred miles from anywhere, but in fact the tiny village of Buoux is a couple of minutes away and for larger villages with cafes, shops and bakeries, you have Bonnieux and Lourmarin, both 10-15 minutes away. Buoux is in the the stunning landscape of the cut that runs through the Luberon mountain. Despite being but a speck it does have the well-known Auberge du Loube restaurant, as well as a chateau to explore and spectacular medieval fortress ruins. The countryside all around is famed for its hiking and climbing routes. Using Buoux as a base you have all the other attractions of the Luberon close at hand, not least the other perched villages like Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Cucuron, Ansouis, Menerbes, Lacoste, Roussillon, etc. Isle sur la Sorgue with its antiques market and Fontaine de Vaucluse where the emerald Sorgue comes gushing out of the ground are 15 minutes away. In under an hour you can be in Avignon, Aix, les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Isle sur Sorgue, and within two hours are Nimes, Arles, the Cote d'Azur and Rhone wine trail. |
