Maison la Confiance, Cadenet, Provence
Wonderful panoramic view from the garden over Cadenet and the valley south of the Luberon. Magnificent 17th century village house with 4 bedrooms and pool in Cadenet
![]() | ![]() |
This stunning house is built into the rock of Cadenet and there is exposed rock in the cave-like ceiling of the living room (below). It is set around a lovely courtyard, and from the top floor you access the big surprise for a village house - the garden with pool, and great views over the village and surrounding countryside as far as the famous montagne Ste Victoire (see top of page).
Cadenet is a year-round living village on the south side of the Luberon mountain, it is a few minutes from the many restaurants of Lourmarin and convenient for Aix-en-Provence and the coast.
Living Rooms
![]() | ![]() |
![]() | The living room (above and left) is in the rock on which Cadenet was built, which apart from looking amazing, also helps to keep the room cooler in mid-summer. Originally this room would have been used to store food and wine. There is plenty of seating on sofas and armchairs. There is a TV with DVD player but no TV channels. |
The majestic kitchen with its arching ceiling has a massive stone fireplace and can seat 8 for meals. The kitchen has electric oven, 4-ring cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, filter coffee machine, juicer, food mixer, toaster and all the crockery and cooking ware you might need. In the basement is the washing machine and a guest WC. | ![]() |

Garden & Pool

There are two lovely outside spaces at the house. The large courtyard (pictured above) at ground level is a great place to eat and relax. As if that were not enough there is also the quite exceptional 'hanging garden' above the house and high over the village, with wonderful view (pictured below and at the top of the page). There is an area of lawn, a pool, and table and chairs for an aperitif with view over Cadenet and far beyond, including the montagne Sainte Victoire that so obsessed Cezanne. |

The pool is 9m x 3.5m (30 x 12ft). On one side of the garden is the rock of Cadenet and on the other the high view over the village and countryside. |

The Location
Cadenet is a busy village on the south flank of the Luberon mountain, which is alive all year round. The house is on the outskirts of the village in a quiet setting, and you can walk to the centre in 2 minutes. Cadenet is ideally placed for exploring Provence, with Aix en Provence close by, the hill-top villages of the north Luberon just round the mountain, and the Mediterranean an hour away. Lourmarin with its many restaurants is 5 minutes away. In summer there are many festivals close by, including the Lyric Art festival in Aix, the big Avignon arts festival, a great piano festival at Roque d'Antheron, and the classical recitals of the Musicales du Luberon. The Cote d'Azur (or French Riviera) stretching from St Tropez to Monte Carlo is 2 hours away. |
