The Location

Gordes (left and centre) is perhaps the most beautiful village in Provence. Senanque Abbey (right) with its fields of lavender is just outside Gordes.

The beautiful perched village of Gordes is 500 metres away. Gordes is the most impressive of the Luberon perched villages, it is simply majestic, standing high over the Luberon valley, it is not only amazing to look at, it also has amazing views outwards. As the best-looking village around it is also well served with restaurants, cafes, food shops, art and music events.

Using Gordes as a base you have all the other attractions of the Luberon close at hand, not least the other perched villages like Menerbes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, Goult, etc. Isle sur la Sorgue with its antiques market and Fontaine de Vaucluse where the emerald Sorgue comes gushing out of the ground are 15 minutes away.

In under an hour you can be in Avignon, Aix, les Baux de Provence and St Remy, within two hours are Nimes, Arles, the Cote d'Azur and Rhone wine trail.
