Charming L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue rental house with pool for 10 people

 

La Maison Poynder is a delightful 5-bedroom rental house in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue with walled garden and pool, on the road to Carpentras. It is 5 minutes walk from the centre of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, one of Provence's prettiest towns, and the antiques capital of France.

Living rooms

 

The living room (above) has comfortable seating around the fireplace and table overlooking the garden.

 

 

The cosy dining room (above) seats 10 and is on the garden side of the house.

 

The kitchen (above) has an oven and 5-ring cooker, Smeg fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and all the equipment and tableware for preparing fine meals for 10. There is a utility room off the kitchen with washing machine and dryer.

In the study is WiFi internet, a writing desk, an English-language book library and satellite TV/DVD with CNN and BBC World.

The delightful English owner lives in an adjoining annex and is available for any local recommendations or if any problems arise. She has a separate entrance and is tucked away and out of sight.

Bedrooms

There are 5 double bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

 

Bedroom 1 with garden views and en suite bathroom.

Bedroom 1 (above) has a dual aspect, overlooking the garden, with a 1.4m-wide bed (4ft 6"). Its en suite bathroom has bath-tub with hand-held shower, WC and basin.

 

Bedroom 2, which can be a double or two singles, and its en suite bathroom.

Bedroom 2 has a 1.6m-wide (5ft 3") double. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub with overhead shower, basin and WC.

Bedroom 3 (above) has a 1.8m-wide double, and shares a bathroom with bedroom 4, with claw-foot bath-tub, basin and WC.

Bedroom 4 (above right) has a 1.6m-wide (5ft 3") double bed. Bedroom 5 (above left) has a 4-poster 1.6m-wide bed with dual aspect windows, and en suit shower room with basin and WC.

Two cots and high chairs and available.

Garden & Pool

The house is L-shaped, forming two sides of the verdant garden. This is partly lawn, part gravel, with a pool in the middle and a canopy of mature trees for shade: a beautiful mulberry, cherry, sophora and weeping willow, along with jasmine, lavender, oleanders and the virginia creeper that covers the house.

 

The pool is 10m x 5m, stone edged and lined with mosaic tiles. Depth is a standard 1.65m.

There is parking on the street outside the house.

The Location

The house is in the town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, known as the antiques capital of France, with a great concentration of antiques stores and a famous Sunday market for antiques and bric-a-brac, as well as food. The house is 5 minutes walk from the centre, where there are many restaurants, cafes and stores, and the town is buzzing year-round.

The perched hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Goult, and Oppede le vieux are all 10-25 minutes away.

Fontaine de Vaucluse is a couple of miles upstream, the medieval city of Avignon is 30 minutes, and within an hour are Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

You can make a comfortable day-trip to the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Weekly Rates


June - September2800 euros


Included in the rental rates: bedlinen, towels, WiFi internet, utilities, pool and garden maintenance, and after-stay clean.

To secure a booking you would send a 25% deposit, with the balance payable 8 weeks before your stay.

Rental periods
run from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am.
 There is a refundable security deposit of 500 euros against any breakages or damage, payable on arrival and returned on departure.

Cancellation policy: if we can find another booking for your dates we will return any money sent (minus bank charges).

The house is for a maximum of 10 people. We regret that smoking and pets are not allowed in the house.
