Upstairs are a double bedroom and a bunk room for children, sharing the bathroom.

The double has a 1.4m-wide bed (4.5ft), work desk and computer, with a view of the Luberon mountain opposite.

In the bathroom are shower, basin and WC.

Outside

The house is part of a cluster of buildings in the beautiful old part of Maubec. The outside space is in front of the kitchen, with table and chairs, and a wrought-iron day-bed.

Up the steps is the entrance to the kitchen. From kitchen door the outside table and chairs.

You can see the outside space pictured above left, with the kitchen up the steps to the left. Use of the outside space is with the blessing of the neighbour, whose house faces the other way. The facade to the right of the steps is the neighbour's house. So this house is ideal for meeting locals and living the real life of a Provencal village.

Outside dining with view of the mountain. Daybed and steps up to house.

The Location

Maubec is a beautiful medieval village in the Luberon natural park.

The house is right in the heart of the village of Maubec, a beautiful little village on a hilltop in the Luberon natural park. In Maubec is a restaurant with lovely summer terrace, a bar, two bakers, newspaper shop and a small grocery.

The Luberon's famous hill-top villages are all within 15 minutes: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Menerbes, Oppede le vieux, etc. so this is an ideal base for exploration of everything the region has to offer.

Within an hour are the splendid towns of Avignon, Arles, St Remy, Tarascon, Orange, Aix-en-Provence, Nimes, as well as the Camargue, Marseille, and the Rhone wine trail. Even closer are Lourmarin, the antiques mecca of Isle sur la Sorgue, and Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the Sorgue river emerges fully formed from deep underground.

There is a market every day in a different village close by. The best for local produce is the farmer's market 5 minutes away in Coustellet on Sunday mornings (April-December). And there are wineries all around where you can taste their recent offerings and buy by the bottle or carfull.
