Le Murier, Menerbes, Provence

2-bedroom Luberon gite for 4-6 people, with tennis court, 1km from Menerbes in Provence

Le Murier is one of three beautifully decorated gites in the secluded grounds of the owners' house. With pool, tennis court and boules on site, and the village of Menerbes 1km away, this is a perfect base for exploring Provence or staying put. The surrounding countryside is lush with cherry orchards and vineyards. Le Murier sleeps 4-6 people in 2 bedrooms.

Living Rooms

The living room, with stone walls and wood beams, has fireplace and satellite TV/DVD.

The living room (above) has a handsome wood-burning stove for winter, TV with French and UK channels, and DVD player. WiFi access is also available.

In the same space as the living room is the fitted kitchen with oven, 4-ring cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and coffee machine. Next to the kitchen is the door to the outside table and chairs by the barbecue.

Garden & Pool
The grounds, pool and tennis court are shared with two other gites but each gite is separate, facing in different directions, and have their own private outside terrace with dining table and chairs.

The pool and the shade of the pool house are by the tennis court.

The pool is 10 x 5m (33 x 16ft), with roman steps at the shallow end and a diving board at the deep end. Around the pool are very comfortable sunloungers and parasols, as well as the pool house and shower.

In the garden you will find a hardcourt tennis court and a play area for children tucked away.

Le Murier has a couple of terraces for different times of the day, one with barbecue and the other under the old mulberry tree (from which Le Murier gets its name).

The owners live on site and are a bi-lingual British couple, they are delighted to help with any local advice or to resolve any problems. There is secure parking and the property is enclosed and gated.

The other two gites on the property can be rented in combination with Le Murier and you can see them here: Le Cerisier and L'Amandier.

The Location

Menerbes on its hilltop from the north (left) and from the east (right).

The house is 1km from the village of Menerbes, and is an ideal location for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, butcher and a small grocery store.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, and Goult.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.
