Les Gardies is a dream holiday villa in a perfect Provence location just a mile outside the fabled village of Menerbes. Sleeping 8 people in 4 bedrooms, with a large terraced garden and pool, all enjoying a terrific view of vineyards, orchards and the Luberon mountain in a very peaceful setting.

The living room has a double-height ceiling, sofas and armchairs for 8, and baby grand piano. There is a study area with desk, high-speed internet, phone and fax adjoining it, and both these spaces open onto the terrace and view through large sliding windows.
Off the living room is the TV room, with angled sofas, satellite TV including BBC News, CNN and BBC World, as well as all the French stations. There is also a DVD player.
The fitted kitchen includes dishwasher and a large table for 10, and all the utensils, cutlery and crockery you would expect in a family home. This is the owner's home outside the summer months so there are no shortcuts with the fixtures and furnishings. There is a large room off the kitchen, like a second kitchen, with sink, washing machine, ironing, fridge and freezer. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. All bedrooms are air-conditioned. One bedroom is only suitable for children as it has a trundle bed. In the main house are two elegant double bedrooms, one of which can also be configured as a twin, both with lovely garden views. There are two bathrooms here, one with twin basins, WC and bath, the other with twin basins and walk-in shower. There is also a separate WC. | Bedroom 2, with double bed or two singles. |

On the upper level, reached by a separate entrance, are a double bedroom that can also be two single beds, a bedroom with trundle beds (ideal for children), and bathroom with bath (plus separate WC). The double bedroom has a patio with gorgeous view over vineyards to the Luberon mountain. There is also a wash-basin and some breakfast crockery up here so that you can enjoy breakfast on the patio.
Note: the two upstairs rooms do not communicate with the downstairs bedrooms, so would not be suitable for young children sleeping on their own.
Garden & Pool
The vine-clad villa is surrounded by terraced gardens, extending over 2 acres, planted with the flora of Provence: lavender and green oak; rosemary, cypress and olive trees. By the pool is a large lawned area for children to wear themselves out.

The villa is set out lengthways, so that most rooms enjoy the wonderful view - and this also gives room for two outside seating areas on the stone terrace bordered with mature lavender. The wooden dining table and chairs outside the kitchen seat 8 for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a pergola and shade overhead. |

The Location

The village of Menerbes is a wonderful location and ideal for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, butcher and a small grocery store. You can even get the Herald Tribune and UK press when you walk in for your croissants or coffee in the morning.
All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.
Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.
You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.
