The Location

The lovely village of Murs, 1km away, is officially one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France' and has yet to be 'discovered'. The village has a food shop with bakery, and a good restaurant with bar ('Le Crillon'). Murs is peaceful and picturesque, with some notable architecture dating back to the Middle Ages. It is 11km from Gordes, which is perhaps the biggest village of the Luberon.

It is said that the painters chose Gordes and Roussillon, the writers chose Lourmarin, and the wise chose Murs, and have kept quiet about it.

Using the house as a base you have all the other attractions of the Luberon close at hand, not least the other perched villages like Menerbes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, Goult, etc. Isle sur la Sorgue with its antiques market and Fontaine de Vaucluse where the emerald Sorgue comes gushing out of the ground are also close and in under 90 minutes you can be in Avignon, Aix, les Baux de Provence and St Remy.
