Very welcoming Provence gite with pool in the Luberon village of Oppede, sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms

This is a traditional gite offering a real taste of life in a real, living Provence village. A large village house has been split into two houses, one is the owner's house, the other is this 4-bedroom rental house for 8 people, and the use of the garden and pool is shared. The house is 200 sq m (2150 sq ft) in size. Available for weekly rentals, except July 9 to end-August, when it is 2 weeks minimum stay.

The downstairs rooms are large and very stylish. There is a billiard/pool room, a library, a TV room, WiFi internet, bar and kitchen. Outside there is also a small summer kitchen.

The kitchen is very well equipped, there is an American-style fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven, cooker, microwave, coffee machine, as well as a beautiful old butcher's block.

The bar is from an old Provence bar, and it is with the traditional zinc top. This room next to the kitchen opens onto the garden.

 Bedroom 4 with double bed and washbasin. | Upstairs are four double bedrooms sleeping 8. The doubles are 1.4m wide (4.6 ft). Two doubles are on the garden side of the house, one is on the road side. This is the road into the village and is not busy. Bedroom 4 (left) has a sky-light window. |
There is one bathroom with walk-in shower and basin, and a separate WC. There is also a WC downstairs. Bedroom 4 has a washbasin. |

Garden & Pool

 | The garden provides lovely spots for eating and relaxing, with its olive trees, the colours and scents of Provence, and the shade of the centenarian lime tree by the stone water basin. The pool is 10m x 5m (33 x 16ft) and is shared with the owners. |

The Location
Oppede is a small village in the Luberon natural park in Provence. It is a 'real' village, rather than one of the neighbouring picture-perfect perched hilltop villages. It has a bar, baker, butcher and small grocery store (where you can even get the Herald Tribune and The Times). The shops of Oppede are 100 metres from the front door.
The Luberon's famous hill-top villages are all within 15 minutes: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Menerbes, and of course Oppede le vieux, the old village, is halfway up the Luberon mountain, straight ahead.
Within an hour are the splendid towns of Avignon, Arles, St Remy, Tarascon, Orange, Aix-en-Provence, Nimes, as well as the Camargue, Marseille, and the Rhone wine trail. Even closer are Lourmarin, the antiques mecca of Isle sur la Sorgue, and Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the Sorgue river emerges fully formed from deep underground.
If you are coming to Provence to relax rather than take everything in, there is a market every day in a different village close by. The best for local produce is the farmer's market 5 minutes away in Coustellet on Sunday mornings (April-December). And there are wineries all around where you can taste their recent offerings and buy by the bottle or carfull.
