Sumptuous 5-bedroom house with pool that sleeps 12, close to Roussillon in the Luberon region of Provence. Available for weekly rentals in summer.

Mas St Michel is an excellent rental property in a very good Luberon location. The house is beautifully furnished and is notable for its vast living room-kitchen-dining room, all in one space filled with light from the south-facing garden.

The kitchen is equipped as you would expect from the professional chef who owns the house. There are 5 bedrooms but as one of them is a children's dorm sleeping 4, the house can stretch to 8 adults and 4 children.

Continuing below are photos and descriptions covering the whole house and location.

Pictured above and below, the living room with plenty of comfortable seating, centred either on the ancient fireplace or the TV/DVD (which has CNN, BBC and others.)

The dining table seats 12, although in summer you would usually be eating outside. The kitchen is to the right, with the living room beyond.   Looking from the opposite end of the living room, with the dining room in the distance. Unusually this house can seat 12 in comfort in one room.

The kitchen (pictured right) is very well equipped. It has the electric oven and 4-ring cooker on an island, dishwasher, American fridge-freezer, micro-wave, double sink. It has many cooking devices and utensils, everything you might need, and all of a very good quality.

TV and Internet: there is satellite TV with English-language channels including CNN and BBC, as well as a DVD player. In the study upstairs there is high-speed internet and a fax machine if needed. A computer is not supplied.

There are 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a total of 5 WCs.

The master bedroom is pictured on the left and below with its en suite bathroom. The bed is 1.6m wide (5'3"). This bedroom is on the ground floor and opens onto the garden.

The bathroom has bathtub, separate shower and twin basins. There is a separate WC across the corridor.

This bathroom is shared with bedroom 2 (not pictured). This room has two single beds, 90cm wide (3ft), and also opens onto the garden.

Bedrooms 4 and 5 (pictured above) are ideal for up to 4 children in the dorm and a nanny or parent in bedroom 4, where the bed is 1.4m wide (4'7").

Between the bedrooms is a corridor with bathroom and separate WC. Just as the children have their own bedroom, they also have their own bathroom with basins at their height (left), and bathtub with handheld shower.

- There are 5 WCs, 3 associated with bathrooms, and two independent ones, one upstairs and one downstairs.

The garden runs the length of the front of the house and is south-facing. It is enclosed so can keep children contained. The garden is beautifully planted and dominated by the plane tree in the centre. The house is surrounded by vineyards and fields, in a very peaceful setting.

There is a large dining table under the shading trellis, and a separate table and chairs for more relaxed lounging.

Pool: the pool could not be more secure. It has a rigid sliding cover, a secure fence, and infra-red detectors to tell you if a child is about to enter the pool. The pool is 12m x 4m (40x13ft). Depth goes from 1.5m to 1.6m. There are sunloungers around the pool.

The house is in a favoured location, in the Luberon area of Provence. This is the special part of the world that reached a wider audience with Peter Mayle's 'A Year in Provence' , and the recent movie 'A Good Year', both based in the Luberon.

The closest village is the stunning, ochre-coloured Roussillon, which is 2 miles away. Rousillon has plenty of restaurants, shops and a weekly market.

Other notable hill-top villages within 15 minutes are Gordes, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Goult, and Oppede le vieux.
