Exuberant, theatrical grand house near Avignon and Tarascon, for up to 12.

The bastide dates back to the renaissance and was extended in the 17th and 18th centuries by an Avignon aristocrat. The interior is an extraordinary meld of colours and theatricality which has made this house a favourite of books on Provence and interiors magazines.

The owner describes the style as shabby chic, but that does not do the house justice. There are found objects, interesting antiques, and ancient floors dating back centuries everywhere you look.

The house has six bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and sleeps a maximum of 12 people.

It is built around an inner courtyard with shaded eating spots. Beyond the courtyard are the pool and garden, and beyond that are just fruit orchards.

The location is close to the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Mézoargues in the Alpilles region of Provence. This is an excellent, central location between Avignon and Tarascon for exploring all of Provence.

The house is available in August and September for a minimum of two weeks.

On this site you will find pictures of every room, split into bedrooms and bathrooms, and the downstairs. There are also pages on the garden and the booking details and rates.
