The Writer's House is a cosy 1-bedroom holiday rental home between Gordes and Goult with pool and garden - ideal for writers, artists, and romantic couples who want to be situated in the heart of the Luberon.

The Writer's House is on the grounds of the owner's house, giving you the benefit of security and assistance when needed, but also privacy.

It is in a rural, very quiet setting just outside the tiny village of St. Pantaleon, which is 6km from the stunning village of Gordes and 4km from the lovely and little known Goult.

There are three rooms: living room with kitchen corner, air-conditioned bedroom, and bathroom. Outside there is a patio with table and chairs, and a private stretch of lawn bordered with trees. The furnishings are high quality and the house lends itself to calm contemplation and enjoyment of this very special part of Provence.

The pool is by the owners' house and you have shared use of it. There is also a 2-bedroom rental house on the grounds, and if that is also rented, its occupants have use of the pool. (Children are not allowed in either house). The owners do not use the pool very often, and they both work. You cannot see or hear the pool area from the Writer's House.

The pool is 10m (33ft) long and has a resistance swimming option - like a swimming treadmill, a jet of water at one end lets you swim as far as you want without moving.

Living Room: opens onto both the front and back patios, and has 2 sofas, a day-bed for added contemplation, dining table and 4 chairs, TV with some French stations only.

Bedroom: bed is 2m long and 1.5m wide (6'6" x 5'), air conditioning, opens onto front patio.

Bathroom: walk-in shower with both overhead rose and hand-held unit, WC, wash-basin.

Kitchen corner: 2-ring stove, microwave/grill, espresso machine, toaster, under-counter fridge-freezer and sink.

Patio: 2 comfortable wicker chairs and table, private lawn with fig, green oak and chestnut trees.

Parking: private parking by the house.

What you will not find at the house: a dishwasher, clothes washing machine or dryer, phone, English-language TV, or a bathtub.

In the garden you may occasionally spot the owners' very docile and good-natured labrador or golden retriever. They are very discreet and are not attention-seekers or food beggars.

The house is right in the middle of the Petit Luberon, within the Golden Triangle of Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux, and very close to the other notable hill-top villages like Lacoste, Goult, Oppede le vieux, Roussillon and Lourmarin. Gordes is 4 miles away, Goult is 2.5 miles. The nearest village is St Pantaleon, but this has no shops. You can walk to Gordes across country in 30 minutes.
