Trains to Provence

book for all French train travel in English

Trains are a great way to travel in France and Europe - they are fast and frequent, and the journey distances are not huge.

If you are flying into Paris CDG airport you can catch a TGV fast train from the airport to be in Avignon 2 hours and 40 minutes later. You can also catch a TGV from Paris, and all the cities of France are on the TGV network. You can then complete your journey with car hire from Avignon, which is 50 minutes drive to the Luberon.

What are not so great are the train booking platforms for each individual railway company, so we recommend you book your train to Provence through our travel partner Omio.

Omio is a one-stop shop for all European rail travel (and bus travel), making sense of it all in English, and combining the offerings of different companies and countries seamlessly.

Train from London to the Luberon

Coming from the UK the easiest way to Provence by train is to take a Eurostar from London St Pancras to Lille and then a TGV to Avignon or Aix-en-Provence. You can also change in Paris but this involves a 30-minute transfer on the RER (line D) from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon.
