A wonderful place
We really enjoyed the stay in this beautiful place. The house is situated in a beautiful forest and it is quiet and peaceful. Thanks Marie!

Menerbes rises up like a ship from the sea of vineyards that run along the Luberon valley and is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of France'. Menerbes has two levels. On the mid-level are restaurants, cafe, bakery and grocery store. And on the top level you can stroll past grand houses with magnificent views to north and south, as well as the Maison de la Truffe et du Vin (House of Wine and Truffles), where you can buy produce and also have lunch in the beautiful garden. Market day in Menerbes is Thursday mornings from April to October.
From Menerbes you can get to the other picture-perfect hill-top villages of the north Luberon within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux and Goult. Within an hour are the must-sees of Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St-Remy, Les Baux-de-Provence and Arles.

Included in the rates: utilities, bedlinen, towels, WiFi internet, visitor tax, after-stay clean.

Magical place, wonderful host
My husband and I spent the first week of September at La Refuge. We could have stayed a year and been happy. The house and surroundings are, if possible, even more charming than in the photos. It was a perfect place from which to explore the Luberon region, to enjoy the towns and cities during the day and return to absolute peace and comfort at night. And then there is Marie — the most hospitable of hosts, lively and fun, welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend!
A Wonderful Place
We have just returned from a wonderful stay in Marie’s Le Refuge. What a magical place. If you love relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine and just the sounds of nature, then this place is for you. Le Refuge is one of the most tranquil and relaxing places to stay. The upstairs sitting area in the evening is a wonderful place to watch the sun setting and the stars gradually appearing and dominating the skies above. The sky and the stars are the same as we see at home, but sitting under the overhanging rock which feels like a protective wave, enjoying the evening heat – there can’t be many more places that feel this special. And when Marie joined us for an evening drink we felt very much at home. Thank you Marie for the lovely memories! Well what can I say about the accommodation? It is beautifully formed with great attention to detail. The hand painted ceilings and woodwork, the art work and sculptures from Marie’s artist friends and the respectful restoration of Le Refuge. This is a place that embraces its environment, respects its history and feels like a 5 star getaway! Come and experience it for yourself. Ultimately the one thing that makes Le Refuge special – is Marie. Her vision, determination and passion for Le Refuge is clear to see. She is the guardian of this special place and under her care it is in very safe hands. Until we return again….
A unique and tranquil experience
What a beautiful spot! The building is beautiful and full of rustic character (but with all the amenities you could need). Marie is lovely and made a real effort to make sure that our trip was as enjoyable as possible. The entire Luberon area is stunning.
A Month In Paradise - Provence Style
We had the pleasure of staying at Le Refuge for 4 weeks in May and June. We could not wait to travel back to Le Refuge, as we had stayed there for the first time in the fall of 2019. The setting of Marie’s beautiful property is exactly what we dreamed a stay in the Luberon would be. Le Refuge is so unique in that it was built into the amazing rock formation which we called “the wave” and Marie has gone out of her way to make the patio area an extension of the living area. We loved the rustic atmosphere but had every modern convenience needed. Her property is large and terraced and we enjoyed walking to her cherry trees and picking the sweet ripe fruit right off the tree, to enjoy as our dessert after having a leisurely dinner with local wine on the patio. The area was so quiet and secluded but we enjoyed an easy walk to Menerbes on several mornings, when we felt like having coffee and croissants at the Le Epicerie. The quiet mornings spent sipping tea and listening to birdsong and lazy afternoons reading in the hammock with the cool breeze wafting through the curve of “the wave” before deciding which local restaurant to have dinner was to us, truly a vacation. The only experience that topped our actual stay at Le Refuge was Marie. Getting to know her and converse with our limited French was so much fun! She is such a generous and openhearted person that her presence there and the time we were able to spend with her was priceless. We will return next year and hopefully every year after.
