Beautiful Oasis

What a stunning oasis of calm and beauty in one of the most beautiful parts of the Luberon. The owners have done the most elegant and authentic renovation to this lovely old mas, with all modern comforts available including gorgeous large ensuite bathrooms for every bedroom, underfloor heating, and fabulous cooking facilities, however none of the charm has been lost and the spirit of the house remains undisturbed. The pool area is truly beautiful, with the view of mountains and surrounding fields, and there are so many places for sitting, reading, drinking and eating all around the property. We loved the walk down a quiet country lane into gorgeous Menerbes for coffee and croissants and the house is ideally located for visits to the most beautiful villages. The house managers are extremely friendly and helpful, and the welcome basket of goodies (including olive oil from the property's own olives) is a lovely touch. We can't wait to return!

One of the best houses there is ..

What an incredibly beautiful and well equipped house with thoughtful owners, wonderful housekeepers and such a fantastic location. As a family of four with 4 year old twins (one of whom has special needs) this house was just perfect. Mature and beautiful gardens and courtyard, with a pool that could be closed behind a garden door was critical for the safety of our son in particular. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could think of needing, the supermarket a 7 min drive away and the village just 5 min (or a 20 min walk). All bedrooms are large and airy, all with en-suite bathrooms which made having additional guests easy. There are two or three options for eating outside as well as having space in the kitchen for 10. If available, we would return again and again - a very special house and wonderful memories.

The best house

We spend together with our dog three weeks in this property. It was like in paradise: it is thre absolutly calm and relaxant, the house and the garden with the pool is so nice and in a very high quality, much more standard as you can aspect for a holyday house. It is a very old house with a lot of charme, the owner has just renovated the whole ensemble with an high aim: old and warm materials, nice colors, the interior fits to the caracter of the house, the carpets, the cushions, the linen - all is harmoniously and very tasteful. The layout is the best you can realise: two Living Rooms, a spaceful kitchen (very high equiped) with a big table and a connection with a terrasse, the 4 bedrooms have all a ensuite bathroom, the layout with the splitlevel is perfect. The reality is much better than the fotos, the highlight is the view to the Mont Ventoux from the garden. The listing description is accurate regarding the location and the facilities. The property was clean and well maintained, Chris and Sylvia are the best caretaker we`ve ever had. It was our 8th stay in the Provence, this house was the best we have ever had and we highly recommend this property.

An extraordinary country house!

This is truly a little slice of paradise!!! The house is simply stunning: completely renovated with exquisite taste (so many small, stylish and unique touches!), it incorporates all modern amenities while respecting the wonderful historic character of the place. It is also very well appointed: top-quality towels and bed-linen, beautiful and plentiful tableware, fully-equipped kitchen, etc. It was such a pleasure setting up picture-perfect dinner tables inside or out in the courtyard! The Mas is set in a beautiful spot: isolated for peace and quiet, but within walking distance of Ménerbes village (a 2.5km walk on a very small (and lovely) country road) - a very pleasant walk early in the morning to pick fresh croissants. We were also able to pick up the marked hiking trails of the Parc régional naturel du Luberon from the link provided by Filip on the Mas' website - from right outside the house - no need to drive to a trailhead parking! We really appreciated the many small touches intended to facilitate our stay (stocking of basic spices, coffee, sugar, cleaning products, etc. and a welcome gift-basket from Filip). Silvia (property manager) who met us on arrival was charming and very helpful. She took the time to tour the house with us to ensure that we had all the information needed and encouraged us to call her if we had any queries. The house clearly stands out from other properties that we have rented in the past. It is exceptional - we loved it and hope to be back soon!

Unforgettable vacation

A fabulous quiet location to come home to after visiting the local villages and towns in the Luberon area. The village Ménerbes can easily be reached within a few minutes by car – or bike (4 bikes placed at disposal from the hosts). We were a group of 6 and this property was ideal having 4 ensuited bedrooms. Also, the house had all the amenities we required. The house, the garden, the setting, the atmosphere – wonderful. Rooms are arranged with so much love for detail. The kitchen is very well equipped and with plenty of space and great for preparing all the delicious products you can find at the local markets; we also used the beautifully arranged courtyard with the outdoor dining area and BBQ daily. The pool area is idyllic and private with a perfect view to Mont Ventoux. The housekeeper/s welcomed us with all little gift, which we found very attentive and kind. Both housekeepers were very friendly and were available if we required any help or information. The owners have also provided a little book with lots of useful information and recommendations, which we referred to occasionally. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation.

Absolutely fabulous

Our stay was simply fabulous. Even the photos online, which are great, do not fully showcase this renovated farmhouse to its full glory. We were seven adults, three couples and one single, who each had our own clean, spacious, uniquely appointed bedroom with full en-suite bathroom, including two sinks. The four bedrooms each have something to offer. If you opt for Philemon or Honorine, you get traditional air conditioning, which some of our party greatly enjoyed. If you choose Marius (we called it the “rumpus room”), you will still be cool and comfortable without traditional A/C but you gain a beautiful free-standing tub in addition to your shower. If you choose Manon (which was our choice), you have two full length windows that open to the sounds of the summer night and the cool breezes. One of the charming attributes is how Filip and Gabrielle have provided such a new and yet authentic renovation. You can still see the old horse trough, imagine how the animals came and went through the three doors from the courtyard while the family lived upstairs, and put your feet in the scooped-out depression in the stone steps worn over centuries of time by all the folks who loved this property. The location of the Mas is about a mile and a half from the pretty winding streets of Menerbes. We went into town daily to the two boulangeries, had dinner at a Michelin-rated restaurant (Les Saveurs Gourmandes) and another dinner on a terrace overlooking the entire valley (Cafe du Progres). The common areas of the home are just as wonderful as the bedrooms. Because the living room is extended and actually on three levels, you can have people watching France progress in the World Cup in one area while someone else puts up their feet and reads a good book in another. There are three doors from the living rooms into the courtyard, but we only unlocked and opened the central one, which was enough for going in and out, without worrying about locking down four (including the kitchen) outer doors each night. So, the kitchen! What can we say about the kitchen?! We usually had breakfast at the long farm table and talked and planned our days. The gas stove is gourmet level, the dishware and cookware and glassware were organized, clean, and plentiful. There is a huge refrigerator with ice and water built-in, and the washer/dryer was so helpful as we were able to wash the towels halfway through the week as well as pack clean clothes to go home with. The doors open and fold back to allow in the morning cool air under the mulberry tree. Lastly, the exterior of the farmhouse is built for the enjoyment of a large group, whether together or having some time alone. There is a “reading lounge” in the courtyard that we filled with pillows and another one by the pool. We all had our own chaise out in the pool area, and the salt water was the perfect temperature. The landscaping, the view of Mount Ventoux (of the Tour de France!), the utter quiet where you can only hear the humming of the bees in the lavender, were all exquisite. Best of all was the table in the courtyard. We bought and lit candles for the colored bottles on the wall, the candelabra, and the table votives. We ate dinner home almost every night because we could not bear to leave. The breeze blows through the courtyard starting in late afternoon, cooling it down perfectly for dinner. At night, we would go out and lay on the lounges by the pool and see a million stars, swim, and (we are very corny) sing old songs in harmony.

Splendid Stay

Our stay was absolutely marvelous. The location was tucked away but close to so many wonderful villages in Provence. The house has everything you need, including a great working kitchen, wonderful en suites and a fabulous pool. No expense was spared in this farmhouse renovation. We stay again, without question!
