Charming house at the heart of a Provence village

Chez B is a very stylish and comfortable air-conditioned house for up to 10 in the heart of the golden village of Ansouis, officially one of France's Most Beautiful Villages. The house is a historic monument dating back to 1840.

Living Rooms

This is a house that combines the old charm of Provence - like the original floor tiles, beams, and open fireplace - with modern comforts: air conditioning, chef's kitchen, high-quality bedding.

Downstairs you walk into a grand, air-conditioned living room with an ancient fireplace as the focal point, and comfortable furnishings.

Between kitchen and living room is an elegant little ante-room (pictured right) with ochre walls.

The spacious kitchen is equipped to a high standard, as the owner's background is in haute cuisine. It includes wall-mounted oven and microwave, 4-ring cooker, fridge-freezer, espresso and coffee machines, dishwasher and separate pantry.


If you prefer not to cook a private chef can be arranged for home cooking or delivery.

In the living room is a large flat-screen TV with French and English-language channels including CNN and BBC. Also on the ground floor are a clothes washing machine and guest WC.

There is WiFi internet throughout, and a Skype-enabled US laptop is supplied.


There are 5 air-conditioned bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 people. The bedrooms have high-quality bedding and mattresses. There are three bedrooms on the first floor up and two more on the top floor.


Master bedroom.

The master bedroom comprises a large dressing room as well as the bedroom itself. The bed is an American king-size (1.8m/6ft wide), and there is a TV in the wall facing the bed.

The en suite bathroom for the master bedroom has a bath with overhead shower, two basins in beaten copper, and WC.

The second bedroom (above) has an American queen size bed (1.52m/5ft wide) and its en suite bathroom has bath with overhead shower, basin and WC.

Bedrooms 4 and 5 on the top floor.

Up a level on the second floor are two more bedrooms (pictured above). One has two single beds which can be brought together for a 1.6m/5.25ft wide double. The other bedroom has a 1.52m/60 inch double. These 2 bedrooms have use of two bathrooms, one across the landing with shower, basin and WC; and one halfway between this floor and the one below, with shower and basin.


The house has two outside spaces: on the ground floor with 3-storey atrium open to the sky, and on the top floor a large roof terrace with views over the rooftops to the countryside.

On the top floor is a larger space, part shaded and part sunny, with plenty of comfortable seating and lounging, the perfect place to retire to after lunch for a rest or dinner when the sky is full of stars. There is a Weber BBQ and a small summer kitchen for food preparation with drinks fridge, microwave, sink and implements.


The roof terrace has a view over the rooftops of Ansouis to the countryside beyond.

The house is in the heart of the village, you can walk in under a minute to a bakery, tabac, bar, grocery, and a very fine restaurant - La Closerie.

The Location

The historic village of Ansouis, topped by its 12th century castle.

The house is right in the village of Ansouis, which is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages in France'. The village and its chateau are beautifully preserved, you can walk from your doorstep along winding streets to pick up a baguette or stop for a coffee at a sidewalk cafe. Ansouis is also blessed with an excellent restaurant, La Closerie.

Ansouis is surrounded by vineyards and stunning Provence countryside. It is close to other beautiful Luberon villages - Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Cucuron, Cadenet - 35 minutes from Aix en Provence and an hour to Marseille and Avignon.

You can drive through the Luberon mountain and get to the other celebrated hill-top villages of the Luberon in 40 minutes: Bonnieux, Menerbes, Gordes, Roussillon, etc.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

A Hidden Gem

The most charming accommodations in the region, Chez B in Ansouis had us at hello! Walking through the antique front doors into this stylish French Country Home we were immediately immersed in the culture. No detail was overlooked and all the comforts of home were provided. Six of us shared the home for a week. It was spacious, impeccably clean and neat. We were provided with a lovely welcome basket as well as a basket full of brochures, books and notes on what to do in the Luberon. One highlight was dining at La Closerie, a 5 minute walk away. We would have eaten there twice but could not get a second reservation so do book this in advance. The little market down the street had most of what we needed and there is a larger town about 15 minutes away with wonderful meat and fresh produce stands lining the streets. We went to markets every day in the surrounding towns, rented e-bikes and wineries. Chez B's location was ideal and we will be back!

Amazing! Perfect place to enjoy the benefits and relaxation of the Valcuse Country side. The place was clean bright and extremely spacious with a outdoor patio for grilling and rooftop veranda for sunning are enjoying a glass of Rose de Provence! We highly recommend this accommodation and in fact already have sent friends and friends of friends this way! The owner listed out daily events in the in and around the immediate area allowing us to live like the locals! From tiny Sunday Markets, Truffle hunting in Cadenet, wine tasting and art walk at La Coste Vineyard, a week was not long enough! Extended day trips to Cassis, Avignon and Chatenuf de Pape made the week barely enough. We hated to leave and continue on to Paris! We will be back!

A house oozing with charm and history

The minute you step through the door, you feel immersed in French country life and centuries of history. We stayed with a few other couples and sipping champagne by the giant fireplace was a treat. We stayed in the left room on the first floor up and our bed was super-comfortable. The modern shower had good water-pressure. Ansouis village is charming and well-located to explore the area. Dinner at the nearby La Closerie restaurant was delicious. Barbs, the owner, was professional and pleasant, with 18 years of knowledge about the village and area on offer. Too bad we didn't have time to cook, for we loved the ambiance of the kitchen as well.

Rental periods run from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am.

There is a refundable security deposit of 800 dollars against any breakages or damage.
 To secure a booking you would send a 25% deposit, with the balance payable up to 8 weeks before your stay.

Cancellation policy: if we can find another booking for your dates we will return any money sent (minus bank charges).

The house is for a maximum of 10 people. We regret that pets and smoking are not allowed in the property.
