The Location

The historic village of Ansouis, topped by its 12th century castle.

Ansouis, 1 mile away, is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages in France'. You can wander its narrow streets up to the beautifully preserved 12th century chateau, building up an appetite for lunch at the excellent La Closerie restaurant. Ansouis is a historic village characterised by the harmony of its architecture, a tranquil place where you can buy your baguette in the morning and stop for a coffee on the sidewalk.

Ansouis is surrounded by vineyards and stunning Provence countryside. It is close to other beautiful Luberon villages - Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Cucuron, Cadenet - 35 minutes from Aix en Provence and an hour to Marseille and Avignon.

A WONDErFUL STAY AT SAINT ESTEVE

We have twice before stayed in the village of Ansouis and loved it. This September we returned to Ansouis and, on the recommendation of friends, we stayed at Saint Esteve, only a 10 minute drive from the small town centre of Ansouis. We were greeted when we arrived by Alex, the proprietor who lives on the property.. We later met Helen who oversees the reservations and who also lives on the property. They were both gracious and welcoming and were a continued source of information on the surrounding area during our week there. The "cottage" is a two bedroom suite that includes a living room, kitchen, bathroom as well as the bedrooms. It is very nicely decorated. We felt comfortable as soon as we first entered the cottage. The property includes a large swimming pool which we were encouraged to use and did so, daily. Ansouis has a small town centre that includes a nice grocery store and a one-star Michelin restaurant, La Closerie, that is truly amazing. During the week toured some of the nearby towns on their market day. Lourmarin was our favourite.

Peaceful place

Very peaceful place, beautiful surrounding, great to start trips around. The apartment is large, comfortable, perfectly equipped. We did not miss anything. Just pity we could not use the swimming pool due the colder weather. And lovely dogs, cats and owners. Do not forget to taste local vine production.

A perfect stay

We stayed at Esteve de Neri for two weeks in Oct 2017. Everything was perfect. The house, the location, the hosts (and their dogs), oh and the wine. Ansouis is the perfect location to see Western Provence. We had day trips to Arles (my favourite), Avignon, Pont du Gare, Aix, Cassis and the Calanques, the Camargue and the Verdon Gorge. We also had lovely days out and some great walks in and around Gordes, Buoux and Loumarin. The bakery in Ansouis is delicious and Le Closerie restaurant is an must. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. We also did wonderful walks around Gordes, Buoux
