Le Trigaud, Bonnieux, Provence

5-bedroom Provence villa with heated pool and tennis

Le Trigaud is blessed with dramatic views of two of the region’s most beautiful hill-top villages, Bonnieux and Lacoste. It has three acres of grounds set out on wooded terraces, with the heated pool, boules court and tennis court on different levels. The location is very close to the beautiful hill-top villages of the Luberon, but in quiet, bucolic countryside of vineyards and orchards. The house sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms and is available for weekly rentals year-round.

Living Rooms

The house has been recently renovated and includes modern appliances, satellite TV, and CD player/iPod dock. The large living room and dining room are in one space, with french doors out to the terrace and views.

Garden & Pool

Le Trigaud is in 3 acres of peaceful, terraced, oak hillside with marvellous views of the Luberon countryside, taking in the village of Bonnieux, Lacoste and Roussillon, and both the Luberon mountain and Mont Ventoux.

On the level below the house is the heated pool which is 12m x 6m (40 x 20ft). It has a diving board and security alarm. There are 10 very comfortable sun loungers with cushions.

Above the pool are the tennis court and alongside that the floodlit boules (petanque) court.

The house is in a very quiet setting, with private drive up and plenty of parking.

The Location

Lacoste, perched high above the Luberon plain, is still dominated by the castle of the Marquis de Sade.

The house is in the countryside between the stunning villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste in the heart of the Luberon. Both are medieval, hill-top villages: Lacoste perfectly preserved and Bonnieux with its many amenities.

Bonnieux is stunning to look at on approaching, perched above the vineyards of the Luberon valley, but also a perfect Provencal village on the inside, with architecture and winding streets dating to the middle ages. Bonnieux has fantastic views to Lacoste to the west, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Luberon mountain to the south.

Market day in Bonnieux is Friday morning, and there is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.

Great for Families

This has been our second stay and won't be the last. The house and grounds are spacious and ideal for large families with children of any age. The standard of accommodation is very good and the grounds well maintained. The grandparents loved sittng out on the various terraces and the views to the different villages are fantastic. Great for landscape painting! The children enjoyed the freedom of the grounds and the pool is heated and alarmed - so really family-friendly. We have enjoyed exploring the region and the coast is not far, some of the local vineyards are definitely worth a visit! The countryside is very beautiful in the early summer and late September when we have visited, and we found a good choice of local restaurants and shopping.

Location Location Location

This property really ticked all the boxes and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Far enough (5 mins drive) from Bonnieux to feel like you have your own little oasis, but close enough to think nothing of popping out to the fantastic bakery each morning for fresh baguettes and croissants...and back again for cocktails or a wonderful dinner. Tasteful bedrooms and furnishings teamed with a well equipped kitchen, plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your time - what more could you ask for? Two external options for dining, each sitting 10 and one with a simply stunning view out across the valley. Huge table to seat 10 inside too.The pool was a lovely addition and well used during our stay. The fitter of us loved the tennis courts - great to have good sports equipment on the premises too. Lots of lovely nooks to grab some quiet time, with more comfortable seating areas other than the main living space inside meant that we never felt crowded. There were lots of things to keep children amused too, had any of us thought to bring any! :-) less selfish next time perhaps. It's a great base from which to explore, but so welcoming to come home too - on the practical side, well lit at night, not many steps and plenty of space to park multiple vehicles. My biggest worry when hiring somewhere is often what the beds will be like - need not have worried as they were perfect too. Lovely house that really feels like home.
