Bonnieux Cottage, Bonnieux, Provence

Village cottage for 2 with wonderful views

View over Luberon valley from the patio. Pool surrounded by lush planted beds.

Bonnieux Cottage is a delightful 1-bedroom house with use of pool, far-reaching views, and just two minutes walk into the beautiful village of Bonnieux. It is newly finished for 2015 to a high standard and is a very comfortable base for exploring the region or experiencing life in an idyllic Provence village. The cottage is on the grounds of the owner's house, but facing away from it and perfectly private. This rental is not suitable for children.

Living Room

Living room with kitchen and dining table, facing west to the view.

The living room and kitchen are open-plan and face west to the view through large sliding patio doors.

Well-equipped kitchen. The view through the patio doors.

The kitchen has wall-mounted oven, 4-ring stove, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee machine, as well as cooking equipment like food mixer. Separately there is use of a washing machine.

Sofa and armchair face the view, with to one side TV and to the other a wood-burning stove for winter rentals. The TV has Apple TV and Netflix, and the house has WiFi internet.

Bedroom

Off the living room are the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has a 1.6m-wide bed (5.25ft) which can also be configured as two single beds.

The en suite bathroom has shower and basin, and there is a separate WC.

Garden & Pool

The pool is next to the owner's house. Sunloungers and the patio with table and chairs.

The cottage is in the grounds of the owner's house, at the front of the land, so it faces out to the view and not towards the owner's house behind. Guests have use of the pool, the owner will only use it occasionally in their absence.

There are patios with views on two sides of the cottage, with outside dining and lounging furniture.

Looking north towards the Mont Ventoux. View from cottage of the stunning village of Lacoste.

The cottage has the striking views that Bonnieux is known for, stretching for miles over the vineyards and orchards of the Luberon valley, with the hill-top villages of Lacoste and Gordes, the Luberon mountain to the south and the Mont Ventoux to the north.

Sunset view of Bonnieux to the back of the cottage. Pool in the foreground, Lacoste in the background.

There is secure, gated parking by the cottage. The owner is English-speaking and very happy to help with local advice, language problems, etc.

The Location

<

Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its weekly market.

If you want to spend a week or more immersed in the life of a beautiful Provence village, the location could not be better. Within three minute's walk are the bakeries, stores, cafes and excellent restaurants of the village, from simple to Michelin-starred.

Bonnieux is stunning to look at on approaching, perched above the vineyards of the Luberon valley, but also a perfect Provencal village on the inside, with architecture and winding streets dating to the middle ages. Bonnieux has fantastic views to Lacoste to the west, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Luberon mountain to the south.

Market day in Bonnieux is Friday morning, and there is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.

Relaxing Holiday

We stayed here for 3 weeks. The cottage has a covered patio with a fantastic view where we spent so much time. All our meals were eaten here apart from when we ventured out.Jutta is so friendly and helpful.. and her dog Amy often comes by for a visit. It is a perfect spot for visiting the other Luberon villages. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and didn’t want to leave.I would definitely recommend this cottage.

Perfect

Great location, beautiful area and a property that more than met our expectations. So many nice touches that one doesn’t usually expect from a rented property. Really comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. Jutta, the owner, is extremely helpful and eager to ensure that you want for nothing. She is available when needed but otherwise totally discreet. She gave us several very helpful suggestions for trips out and her favourite restaurants. We loved the daily visits from canine and feline friends. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to other couples.

Highly recommended!

The cottage was the perfect place to spend a week of our holiday. It is extremely well appointed and has fantastic views across the countryside to Mt Ventoux. The owner is lovely - most welcoming but discreet. We enjoyed being able to walk up into the attractive village of Bonnieux with its good selection of restaurants. The cottage is beautifully quiet - a most relaxing place to stay. We also enjoyed meeting Amy - Jutta's charming little dog (the best dog in France!).
