Bonnieux Studio, Bonnieux, Provence

Sunny studio in outstanding Luberon village

The studio is on the south flank of Bonnieux. The view is to the Luberon mountain opposite.

The Bonnieux Studio is a south-facing studio in a grand village house dating back to the 15th century. It sleeps two and also has the possibility of an additional twin bedroom.

The studio has the kitchen at one end and the bed at the other, with dramatic Luberon view from its south-facing window.

A modern kitchen in 15th century surrounds.

The kitchen is equipped with oven, 4-ring gas cooker, fridge-freezer and coffee machine. In a separate room in the hallway is a clothes washing machine. There are dining table and chairs in front of the kitchen.

Sitting area by the fireplace. The bathroom has a large shower.

Between kitchen and bed is a sitting area and working fireplace. The bathroom with shower, basin and WC is behind the kitchen. Although this is an old house, all the electricity and plumbing is new, and there is central heating, as well as WiFi internet.

The optional second bedroom and bathroom.

With the studio there is the possibility of a second bedroom (above) which is off the entrance hall - this has a bathroom with shower, WC and basin, washing machine and wooden steps up to two single beds, and is best suited to youngsters. The cost of the second bedroom is an additional 330 euros per week.

The Location

Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its weekly market.

If you want to spend a week or more immersed in the life of a beautiful Provence village, the location could not be better. Within 2 minutes' walk are the bakeries, stores, cafes and excellent restaurants of Bonnieux.

Bonnieux is stunning to look at on approaching, perched above the vineyards of the Luberon valley, but also a perfect Provencal village on the inside, with architecture and winding streets dating to the middle ages. Bonnieux has fantastic views to Lacoste to the west, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Luberon mountain to the south.

Market day in Bonnieux is Friday morning, and there is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.

Blissful Retreat

Every good review of the Bonnieux Studio is true. It would be hard to surpass the superlative descriptions written by previous guests because it is truly a wondrous space! The exquisite styling created by Sharon and Paul in this extraordinary medieval building contributes to the feeling that you are living in your own magical time warp, yet with all the conveniences of a modern kitchen and bathroom, superb bed and French linens, cozy armchairs and a view of the Luberon valley that is breathtaking. Its perfect location in the village makes it easy to walk to local patisseries, grocery and restaurants. The weather in October was glorious and warm. Local markets in Bonnieux and Lourmarin are not to be missed. Just go!

Paradise and Practical in Provence

For me it does not get better than this. Like it’s village, Bonnieux, this studio has a quiet, authentic beauty. Even though every detail adds to the charm I felt such serenity in this peaceful place. Backing up this beauty was everything needed to live well here, great towels, great bed linens, great mattress, lovely shower, comfortable chairs with beautiful stools for relaxing, lovely pottery for dining on the long generous table. We never felt crowded in this small space, only cozy and pampered. On a mistral day we we sat and read in the golden light while we watched the cypress quiver outside The thick walls blocking out the sound but the beautiful window letting in the expansive hillside beyond. The pictures do it justice but “living” here could restore your soul. My only hesitation in writing this is a selfish one, I want to return and am so grateful we found it and and had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Sharon and Paul the warm, intelligent, geniuses who created it.

Perfect apartment in Bonnieux!

We loved it here so much we never wanted to leave! I stayed here last summer and my husband and I could not have been happier with our rental. The place is beautiful and possibly even more charming than these pictures show it to be. Located in a very beautiful old building, the studio is clean and comfortable and well-equipped for travelers. The view from the window is stunning looking over the valley, and the location is perfect for wandering around town without having to drive, or as a jumping-off point for exploring the region. I can't believe my luck at having found this place! We loved the farmer's market and the many bakeries and restaurants in town, and we splurged and ate at Le Fournil one night - it did not disappoint. Thank you Sharon and Paul for such nice accommodations.
