The living room is upstairs, along with one bedroom and bathroom. Downstairs and completely separate for privacy is the second bedroom and bathroom.

The second bedroom and bathroom (pictured below) are down on the ground floor, and accessed from the courtyard, so this gives total privacy to two couples.

This bedroom also has its own private terrace with pergola for shade, and facing west over the garden to the sunset.

Garden & Pool

The apartment is part of a larger property over 2.8 ha of land (7 acres) so space is plentiful. The large pool is shared with the other two rental units on the property, Suite Bonnieux and Apartment Lacoste (if they are occupied), and the apartment has its own private terraces facing away from any other. The pool area is set away from the apartment, ensuring peace and privacy.

The pool is 13m x 7m (42 x 23ft) and has a heat pump to add some degrees in the shoulder season. By the pool is a poolhouse (below) with barbecue and lounging furniture.

The apartment has two entirely private terraces with tables and chairs.

The central courtyard (below) provides a peaceful space with fountain and plane trees, as well as an ideal boules/petanque court.

The apartment looks over another lavender field (bottom right) towards the village of Gordes, hence its name.

Beyond the lavender field on the south side of the property are the two hill-top villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste, and the Luberon mountain. These medieval villages (below) have been facing each other across the valley for well over 1000 years.

The property has a gated entrance and secure parking. Also on the grounds is the caretakers' cottage, the caretakers are an English couple who can help with problems or local advice. One of the services they can provide is any kind of breakfast you may desire.

The Location

Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its weekly market.

The property is 3 miles from 3 wonderful villages of the Luberon: Bonnieux, Lacoste and Goult.

has all the amenities you need: bakeries, stores, cafes and excellent restaurants as well as the very picturesque Friday morning market.

is also very well served by restaurants and its Cafe de la Poste, and is one of the hidden gems of the Luberon. Lacosteis a perfectly preserved medieval village, home to the notorious Marquis de Sade's castle, with few amenities but plenty of atmosphere.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, etc. all within 15 minutes. There is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.
