The Location

<

Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its weekly market.

If you want to spend a week or more immersed in the life of a beautiful Provence village, the location could not be better. Within 2 minutes' walk are the bakeries, stores, cafes and excellent restaurants of Bonnieux.

Bonnieux is stunning to look at on approaching, perched above the vineyards of the Luberon valley, but also a perfect Provencal village on the inside, with architecture and winding streets dating to the middle ages. Bonnieux has fantastic views to Lacoste to the west, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Luberon mountain to the south.

Market day in Bonnieux is Friday morning, and there is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.

Inspiring!

My partner and I have visited Bonnieux on previous occasions, but always during the summer period. We love the authentic and friendly village and beautiful surroundings and were interested to visit it during the winter period. We could not have chosen a better place than the apartment of Sharon and Paul. It is spacious, quiet, has a wonderfully warm and cozy kitchen, a simple, yet rich interior with natural colours and a gorgeous view from the big window. We loved the atmosphere! After short or long strolls in and around the village, it was lovely to return to our 'home away from home'. We did not meet Sharon and Paul, but through the various and easy email exchanges they made us feel warmly welcome. Thank you!

Magnificent Holiday

Our family spent a week in this delightful apartment. The apartment was exactly as advertised, and everything was in working order (dishwasher, stove, washing machine), making our holiday trouble free. The location is wonderful: in the heart of the village, walking distance to all the important destinations in Bonnieux. Some highlights include: an evening Baroque music concert at the old church (walk up a beautiful set of stone steps to the top of the village for a panoramic view of the Luberon valley), daily breakfast and newspaper at the bakery (fresh baguette, pastries, and coffee), trips to nearby villages and market days, visits to vineyards offering degustations. But what we enjoyed the most was returning 'home' to the apartment for dinner inspired by local produce and menus! The kitchen is well equipped to cook just about anything. This wonderful kitchen for cooks is also equipped with simple and rustic tabletop collection that amplified the beauty of every meal. You'll rest well at this quiet apartment too because all you hear are occasional dogs barking and the sound of the gentle breeze... If you like self catering holidays, you won't find anything better. Please take good care of everything because we plan to return!

A place full of wonder

Bonnieux dazzled from the moment we saw it, high on its mountain, across the great valley floor. We were astounded that this could be it, ancient, high above the orchards and fields. We found numero vingt-six at once, I remembered the raspberry stained wall of your neighbor. We came into your home and it felt like home. Sean walked thru first, carrying our bags and I saw him stiffen as he saw the view, and then laugh, the disbelief and wonder. The window was filled to overflowing with the mountain in the haze of the afternoon heat's light. Below us the world fell away in deep green fields and trees, vines running along rusty trellises, clinging to white, chalky stonewalls. It is a lovely place, thank you for letting us feel so welcome.
