A dream Provence house with heavenly views

A wonderful, restored 18th century bastide 5 minutes from the stunning village of Bonnieux, with one of the best views in the Luberon, including several of the region's most beautiful villages. This house just encapsulates the spirit of Provence. Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, minimum age of 6.

Living Rooms

On the ground floor are the living room and kitchen, with their exposed beams and ancient floor tiles. There is also a separate TV room downstairs and the house has WiFi internet.

A very welcoming and well-equipped Provence kitchen.

The spacious kitchen is the heart of the home, with the glorious view opening out at the end of the farmhouse dining table (below). In the kitchen are range cooker with gas hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Also downstairs the entrance has a desk and serves as a study, and there is a guest WC.



Bedrooms

The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, sleeping 8. Two of the bedrooms can be made up as a double or two single beds.

Master bedroom and bathroom.

The master bedroom (above) has a 1.8m-wide bed (6ft) and en suite bathroom with clawfoot bath, hand-held shower, WC and basin.

Bedroom 2 (above) also has a 1.8m-wide double (6ft), and an in-room bath with hand-held shower, basin and separate WC.

Bedroom 3 can be a 1.8m-wide double or 2 single beds, and has an en suite bathroom with walk-in shower, basin and WC.

 

Bedroom 4 on the second floor, and its bathroom.

Up a level, bedroom 4 can be 2 singles or a 1.8m-wide double. Its en suite bathroom has shower, basin and WC.




Garden & Pool

The garden is a beautifully tended 3000 sq.m. and everywhere is the magnificent view down the length of the Luberon valley, the Luberon mountain on one side, and the Monts de Vaucluse and Mont Ventoux on the other. The village of Lacoste is opposite and beautiful at night when it is lit up, while the villages of Gordes, Menerbes and Roussillon are also visible.

The pool is 12m x 3m (40 x 10ft) and has a pool alarm for security. The poolhouse has a small summer kitchen, with sink and fridge, barbecue, as well as shower and WC.

The top terrace along the front of the house takes in the full view, with an outdoor dining table by the kitchen.

 

The garden is planted with the best colours and scents of Provence and the Mediterranean - olive trees, lavender, santolina, rosemary, wisteria, cypress, fig and fruit trees.

 

Beneath the pool level is the lawn.

Beneath the pool level the garden is lawned and enclosed with a stone wall.

 

 

The house faces west, to give not just the amazing view but every night the the long, spectacular sunset.

The bastide has a gated entrance and parking for several cars. It is on a very quiet country road used only by residents, and is a haven of calm. The point of contact for any advice or problems is a bi-lingual English couple.





The Location

Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and its weekly market.

The house is in quiet countryside only 2 miles from beautiful Bonnieux, a hill-top village that is stunning to look at on approaching, perched above the vineyards of the Luberon valley, but also a perfect Provencal village on the inside, with architecture and winding streets dating to the middle ages. Bonnieux has all the shops you need and a great choice of restaurants, from simple to Michelin-starred.

Market day in Bonnieux is Friday morning, and there is a market in a neighbouring village every day of the week.

Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes.

From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix en Provence. The Cote d'Azur is 2 hours away.

To the west, within an hour or so are Avignon, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, Arles, and the Rhone wine trail.

Found peace and Family time at La Bastide

The home is situated amoung spectacular views. We enjoyed sitting out by the pool and dining on the terrace. The home is beautiful and charming. We enjoyed preparing meals in the authentic French Kitchen and dining together at sunset. We had the chance to "pause" and relax. I very much enjoyed my wine, my book and the views sitting out on the terrace. The gentle wind and sounds of Provence were most welcoming. Nick has a wonderful collection of books and games... My kids and I actually played board games..... not video games! We had many laughs together. As always, SallyAnn is most helpful and kind. Marie, our chef outdid herself again and prepared a wonderful meal. These ladies have become friends to us and we look foward to returning to Provence next Summer.

Wonderful, classic Provencal home

The property is a classical Provencal home with all the charm one would expect but also all the modern amenities one would expect. Outstanding, romantic view of the Luberon Valley and close to town for all you would need. Owner is excellent. We would definitely come back.

Five-star experience in a house full of love

Sometimes pictures just can’t do a house justice. I spent three years running international M&A for a major US hotel chain where I was responsible for finding luxury and high-end boutique properties across Europe and this house rivaled anything I saw during that period. The furnishings were gorgeous and allowed the age and the beauty of the house to shine. Staying at Nick’s House felt like staying at a friend or family member’s house. The bedding and towels were sumptuous and Nick stocked the house with olive-based toiletries produced by a friend’s nearby farm. A fully-equipped kitchen allows you to cook lovely meals at home. Nick’s house manager welcomes you to the house and has thoughtful suggestions and helpful hints for getting around the area. If you get the chance you should ask Sally to book in a night or two with Alexis, a young chef who will come and prepare a beautiful meal and serve it to you on the stunning terrace. My friends and I vacation together every summer and brought our kids here to spend some time before they head off to college for the first time. Thanks to Nick, Sally and this glorious house, we had a vacation to remember.

Included in the rental rates: bedlinen, towels, utilities, WiFi internet, 2 x 3 hours of cleaning in the week, pool and garden maintenance, and after-stay clean.

To secure a booking you would send a 50% deposit, with the balance payable up to 12 weeks before your stay.

Rental periods run weekly from Saturday 5pm to Saturday 10am. From November to March only it is 4 nights minimum.
 Cancellation policy: if we can find another booking for your dates we will return any money sent (minus bank charges).

Security deposit of 1000 euros to be paid with balance payment and returned after stay.

The house is for a maximum of 8 people, and no children under the age of 6. We regret that smoking and pets are not allowed in the house.
