La Baume Victoire, Buoux, Provence

Inspirational setting for a Provence rental sleeping 8-10 in Buoux

La Baume Victoire is a marvellous rental house in total peace and calm, with stunning view of the river valley of the Aiguebrun below and the Luberon mountain opposite. You feel quite removed from the world here with birdsong and cicadas for company, even though the closest village is only 2 minutes away. Minimum 2-week rentals in July-August.

The view from almost every room, as well as the outside space, is a quite spectacular one of the Luberon mountain and the Aigebrun valley below.

The house in the distance, in spring. There is plenty of comfortable lounging by the pool.

The pool, which is 25 metres to the side of the house, measures 11.5m x 5m (38 x 16ft). It also shares in the wonderful view. There are sunloungers and a summer kitchen with sink, fridge and bar. The pool is available from mid-May to mid-October.

At the front of the house is the terrace and a great spot for petanque. Terrace to the side of the house, the door belongs to bedroom 1.

At the front of the house is the terrace and pergola, gravelled area (ideal for playing petanque), and lawn.

Clipped borders at the back of the house. Front terrace in the autumn.

Also outside, there is a Weber barbecue and plenty of parking behind the house.

The Location

Buoux - blink and you miss it.

This house seems like it is a hundred miles from anywhere, but in fact the tiny village of Buoux is a couple of minutes away and for larger villages with cafes, shops and bakeries, you have Bonnieux and Lourmarin, both 10-15 minutes away.

Buoux is in the the stunning landscape of the cut that runs through the Luberon mountain. Despite being but a speck it does have the well-known Auberge du Loube restaurant, as well as a chateau to explore and spectacular medieval fortress ruins. The countryside all around is famed for its hiking and climbing routes.

Using Buoux as a base you have all the other attractions of the Luberon close at hand, not least the other perched villages like Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Cucuron, Ansouis, Menerbes, Lacoste, Roussillon, etc. Isle sur la Sorgue with its antiques market and Fontaine de Vaucluse where the emerald Sorgue comes gushing out of the ground are 15 minutes away.

In under an hour you can be in Avignon, Aix, les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Isle sur Sorgue, and within two hours are Nimes, Arles, the Cote d'Azur and Rhone wine trail.

The view from the fortress of Buoux to Mont Ventoux at sundown - a view unchanged since pre-historic times (apart from the building on the summit....)

Truly great

OMG, this was a wonderful place in Provence. Close to everything, the owner is so friendly and helpful. My family (Son, Dgtr and their families) took me there to celebrate my 70th birthday and all I can think is I want to go back. The house is comfortable and the views fantastic. The children ages 1 to 11 loved the pool, eating on the terrace and the older girls sleep overs in the pool house. If you want a memorable vacation and just want to relax and enjoy the wine, cheese and bread you could not pick a better place as your home base. Hope to go back and celebrate another birthday in a few years.

Paradise in Provence

This place is a treasure - we only stayed a week, but could have stayed much longer. Went late in September early October, no crowds and spectacular clear weather. ( even if a little cool for swimming!) It is just as good as it looks in the photos if not better and Bernard and Mathilde could not be more charming and helpful. Spotlessly clean, Also nice that things like tea, coffee and sugar are available on arrival. AHHH Provence!

5 stars!

After our first experience at Cote Sud, we stayed 2 weeks at la Baume Victoire. Once again we had a lovely time! Coming back to Buoux was a delight. There is few places like that where you feel going back "home". Same as Cote Sud, the house is tastefuly decorated and fully equipped.(it's bigger though) A big thanks to Bernard and Mathilde for their warm welcome :) See you again next year!!
