Newly finished villa right by the village of Cabrieres d'Avignon, interior designed with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, a wonderful rental house close to all the attractions of the Luberon in Provence.

Living Rooms

The living area downstairs is open plan, a large L-shape space comprising the living room, kitchen and dining room.

The kitchen is very well equipped with a central island for food preparation, 5-ring cooker and extra-large oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave, fridge, and in an adjoining utility room are the freezer, clothes washing machine and tumble dryer.

The living room is arranged around the fireplace, with large TV/DVD, French and English-language channels including CNN, and WiFi internet throughout. Three sets of French windows open out onto the south-facing terrace and pool. In the entrance hall is a guest WC.



Bedrooms

The house has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, with 4 bedrooms downstairs and the master bedroom upstairs. Three rooms are doubles and two can be arranged as twins or doubles.

The master bedroom has a 1.6m-wide bed (5.25ft) with French windows out onto its own balcony, with view of the Luberon mountain. There is a dressing room behind the bed. The en suite bathroom comprises bath, separate shower, basin and separate WC.

Bedroom 2 (below) on the ground floor has a 1.6m-wide bed and en suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC. The bedroom opens onto the south-facing terrace.

Bedroom 3 (below) can be configured as two single beds measuring 80cm wide or one double measuring 1.6m wide (5.25ft). Its en suite has shower, basin and WC.

Bedroom 4 (below) can also be either two singles or a double bed. French doors open onto the south-facing terrace and its bathroom has shower, basin and WC.

Bedroom 5 is a 1.6m-wide double (5.25ft) with shower, basin and WC.

Apart from the master bedroom, the bedrooms and their en suite bathrooms are separated by a curtain.




Garden & Pool

 

The garden is south-facing and enclosed, featuring a beautiful figure-of-8 pool. The area of the pool is 45 square metres (485 sq ft) and it is 1.6m deep (5.25ft). Access is down a sloping 'beach'.

 

Around the pool are sunloungers and parasols, and the garden is planted with the essences of the Mediterranean - lavender, rosemary, oleander and olive trees.

On the upper terrace, under the shade of an awning, is the outside dining table for 10 people.

 

There are spots for sitting in sun or shade, including a children's table and stools (below right). Outside the poolhouse is a large daybed for more serious relaxation.

 

The house has electronic gated entrance and secure parking to the back.


The Location

Cabrieres d'Avignon has all the amenities of a small Provencal village, without the crowds.

The house is 800m (half a mile) from Cabrieres d'Avignon, an authentic and less-visited village in the beautiful Luberon region. The honey-coloured centre of the village is self-sufficient with a small grocery store, a really good baker, a butcher, and a decent restaurant - Le Vieux Bistrot. Also very close is Coustellet with its shops, restaurants, and famous Sunday morning farmers' market.

Five minutes away is the better known village of Gordes, and it is a short drive to the other beautiful hill-top villages of the Luberon: Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, Oppede-le-vieux, etc.

Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of France is close by, as is the stunning Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the Sorgue emerges from the ground.

This is an ideal base for exploring further afield: Avignon, Arles, St Remy, Aix, Nimes, Pont du Gard, Gorges du Verdon, Les Baux, Marseille, the Camargue and the Cote d'Azur are all within easy reach.

There are hikes right from the door of the house exploring the surrounding countryside, or you can go by mountain bike. Village markets take place in a different village each day of the week, including the excellent farmers' market in Coustellet on Sunday mornings, which is 5 minutes away.

The Luberon is the blessed plot of Provence characterised by vineyards, olive groves and fruit orchards, specked with perched villages, that held Peter Mayle in its thrall when he wrote A Year in Provence here. It is also where Russell Crowe inherited a vineyard in the movie A Good Year.

A beautiful house in Provence

Our family had a lovely stay in this villa, with lots of space for us all, plus a great pool for the children to enjoy. The kitchen was very well equipped and the location was ideal for enjoy the whole region. I'd highly recommend it!

Included in the rental rates: bedlinen, towels, utilities, WiFi internet, 3 hours of cleaning in the week, and after-stay clean.

To secure a booking you would send a 30% deposit, with the balance payable up to 8 weeks before your stay.

There is a refundable security deposit of 800 euros against any breakages or damage.
 Rental periods run from Saturday 5pm to Saturday 10am. For stays over a week there is a change of bedlinen once a week.

Cancellation policy: if we can find another booking for your dates we will return any money sent (minus bank charges).

The house is for a maximum of 10 people. We regret that pets and smoking are not allowed in the house
