Beautifully designed living room with the kitchen and dining table at the back.

The living room is very comfortable, with an old fireplace, a large flat-screen TV, with satellite channels including CNN, and DVD player. There is free wireless internet, and an ipod dock with large speaker.

The kitchen has a 5-ring cooker, large oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and is well equipped with pots, pans, tableware, etc. It has a view to the pool and is next to the terrace with the umbrella pine.

In a separate laundry room are clothes washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and drinks fridge.

There are 5 bedrooms - three doubles and two twin rooms - and 5 bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs.

The master bedroom has a big, stylish en suite bathroom.

The master bedroom (above) has a 1.6m wide bed (5.25ft) and a south facing terrace. The en suite bathroom is spacious and includes a dressing area, claw-foot bathtub, WC and walk-in shower. The master bedroom is air conditioned as it is at the top of the house.

Downstairs is bedroom 5 (above right) with 1.4m wide bed (4.5 ft), basin and shower. This bedroom opens onto the west facing terrace downstairs.

Garden & Pool

South terrace with pergola for shade. West terrace by pool under the umbrella pine.

Around the house is the 9000 sq m (2.2 acres) Mediterranean garden, planted with olive trees, oleander, lavender and pines. There are two terraces for eating, on the south side under the pergola, or to the west on the pool side under an old umbrella pine, with the burble of the fountain. There is also the option of sitting around the pool with its poolhouse, barbecue and comfortable sun loungers.

The house has an exceptional pool area - big pool and surround, comfortable pool house with barbecue.

The bigger-than-usual pool measures 17m x 7m (55 x 22 ft) and is heated. It has a gently sloping 'beach' at the shallow end. The security is provided by infra-red sensors around the perimeter to alert you if a child wanders into the pool area (although this is no substitute for parental vigilance).

Looking south. Poolhouse at night. Fountain on west terrace.

The 2-acre garden is richly planted with Mediterranean delights: olive trees, lavender, oleander and pines.

The Location

Cabrieres d'Avignon has all the amenities of a small Provencal village, without the crowds.

The house is 800m (half a mile) from Cabrieres d'Avignon, an authentic and less-visited village in the beautiful Luberon region. The honey-coloured centre of the village is self-sufficient with a small grocery store, a really good baker, a butcher, and a decent restaurant - Le Vieux Bistrot. Also very close is Coustellet with its shops, restaurants, and famous Sunday morning farmers' market.

Five minutes away is the better known village of Gordes, and it is a short drive to the other beautiful hill-top villages of the Luberon: Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, Oppede-le-vieux, etc.

Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of France is close by, as is the stunning Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the Sorgue emerges from the ground.

This is an ideal base for exploring further afield: Avignon, Arles, St Remy, Aix, Nimes, Pont du Gard, Gorges du Verdon, Les Baux, Marseille, the Camargue and the Cote d'Azur are all within easy reach.

There are hikes right from the door of the house exploring the surrounding countryside, or you can go by mountain bike. Village markets take place in a different village each day of the week, including the excellent farmers' market in Coustellet on Sunday mornings, which is 5 minutes away.

The Luberon is the blessed plot of Provence characterised by vineyards, olive groves and fruit orchards, specked with perched villages, that held Peter Mayle in its thrall when he wrote A Year in Provence here. It is also where Russell Crowe inherited a vineyard in the movie A Good Year.

Scenes from the nearby Sunday farmer's market in Coustellet, which runs April to December.

Superb house in a beautiful area

Mas Pin-Fontaine is a beautiful house in a fantastic area of Provence. The online description is very accurate. It is tastefully decorated, clean and well maintained. We were a party of 8 covering 3 generations and the facilities were everything any of us could need. We spent many hours in the pool which is suitable for all age groups and used the barbecue many times. Christine was extremely helpful as was Sandrine, who provided local information as well as booking us a taxi for a special occasion meal at Le 5 in Ménerbes, which was excellent. The view from the terrace has to be seen to be believed! We also had an amazing meal at Le Vieux Bistrot in Cabrieres. Coustellet is only a few minutes away and has a good supermarket as well as a superb farmer's market twice a week. We visited Gourdes, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Roussillon and Bonnieux and would thoroughly recommend all of them! We had a fantastic holiday and would love to return. As another reviewer has said, preferably two weeks next time!

Amazing house in beautiful Provence

We loved this tastefully furnished and well equipped wonderful house , the large pool ideal for serious swimmers and young children alike ( the paddling area was a bonus for our 4 and 2 year olds), the easy to use barbecue, the many paths and beautiful trees and plants in the garden, the fun fountain. The supermarket and twice weekly market in Coustellet were very handy, as was the baker in Cabrieres who makes excellent pizzas and pissaladières! ( Cabrieres shops are open Sunday morning but closed on Mondays) So many interesting places to visit : Gordes, Isle sur la Sorgue with its incredible Sunday market, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Roussillon ( the children loved the red rocks and sand ), Avignon etc Christine, the owner was most helpful and the weekly cleaner very efficient as well as discreet. Not hot enough yet for cicadas apparently but plenty of birds and interesting beetles made up for them!

A wonderful house for the 3 generations of our family

We were delighted when we arrived at Mas Pin-Fontaine. It is so beautiful. Our granddaughter loved exploring the garden and playing on the pool beach. The pool is a good size for 8 people playing Frisbee. It was good to eat at different tables outside and inside and to have a BBQ by the pool. We enjoyed cooking our own food but also going out to restaurants. It is important to book a table! The house is very well equipped - we laughed that there were so many potato peelers! We played boule but not table tennis because it was rather windy. We loved the walk to Mur de la Peste and near Apt. We visited Gordes, Bonnieux, and went Kayaking from Fontaine de Vaucluse. In the garden we saw many birds, butterflies, dragonflies and bats. We would love to return to your lovely house but think we would need 2 weeks next time!
