Living Rooms

Downstairs is a lovely light, open space with living room, dining room and kitchen. This is an interior designer's house where the furnishings and fixtures have been chosen with great care. Every room but one opens onto a terrace. The pool is 10 metres away and has a poolhouse where you can cook at the barbecue. There are comfortable outside spaces all around where you can track the path of the sun (or avoid it), including the terrace under the 100-year-old umbrella pine.

Beautifully designed living room with the kitchen and dining table at the back.

The living room is very comfortable, with an old fireplace, a large flat-screen TV, with satellite channels including CNN, and DVD player. There is free wireless internet, and an ipod dock with large speaker.

Elegant, light kitchen with work island is a dream for people who love to cook the food of Provence.

The kitchen has a 5-ring cooker, large oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and is well equipped with pots, pans, tableware, etc. It has a view to the pool and is next to the terrace with the umbrella pine.

In a separate laundry room are clothes washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and drinks fridge.

There are 5 bedrooms - three doubles and two twin rooms - and 5 bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs.

The master bedroom has a big, stylish en suite bathroom.

The master bedroom (above) has a 1.6m wide bed (5.25ft) and a south facing terrace. The en suite bathroom is spacious and includes a dressing area, claw-foot bathtub, WC and walk-in shower. The master bedroom is air conditioned as it is at the top of the house.

Downstairs is bedroom 5 (above right) with 1.4m wide bed (4.5 ft), basin and shower. This bedroom opens onto the west facing terrace downstairs.

Garden & Pool

South terrace with pergola for shade. West terrace by pool under the umbrella pine.

Around the house is the 9000 sq m (2.2 acres) Mediterranean garden, planted with olive trees, oleander, lavender and pines. There are two terraces for eating, on the south side under the pergola, or to the west on the pool side under an old umbrella pine, with the burble of the fountain. There is also the option of sitting around the pool with its poolhouse, barbecue and comfortable sun loungers.

The house has an exceptional pool area - big pool and surround, comfortable pool house with barbecue.

The bigger-than-usual pool measures 17m x 7m (55 x 22 ft) and is heated. It has a gently sloping 'beach' at the shallow end. The security is provided by infra-red sensors around the perimeter to alert you if a child wanders into the pool area (although this is no substitute for parental vigilance).

Looking south. Poolhouse at night. Fountain on west terrace.

The 2-acre garden is richly planted with Mediterranean delights: olive trees, lavender, oleander and pines.

The Location

Cabrieres d'Avignon has all the amenities of a small Provencal village, without the crowds.

The house is 800m (half a mile) from Cabrieres d'Avignon, an authentic and less-visited village in the beautiful Luberon region. The honey-coloured centre of the village is self-sufficient with a small grocery store, a really good baker, a butcher, and a decent restaurant - Le Vieux Bistrot. Also very close is Coustellet with its shops, restaurants, and famous Sunday morning farmers' market.

Five minutes away is the better known village of Gordes, and it is a short drive to the other beautiful hill-top villages of the Luberon: Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, Oppede-le-vieux, etc.

Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of France is close by, as is the stunning Fontaine de Vaucluse, where the Sorgue emerges from the ground.

This is an ideal base for exploring further afield: Avignon, Arles, St Remy, Aix, Nimes, Pont du Gard, Gorges du Verdon, Les Baux, Marseille, the Camargue and the Cote d'Azur are all within easy reach.

There are hikes right from the door of the house exploring the surrounding countryside, or you can go by mountain bike. Village markets take place in a different village each day of the week, including the excellent farmers' market in Coustellet on Sunday mornings, which is 5 minutes away.

The Luberon is the blessed plot of Provence characterised by vineyards, olive groves and fruit orchards, specked with perched villages, that held Peter Mayle in its thrall when he wrote A Year in Provence here. It is also where Russell Crowe inherited a vineyard in the movie A Good Year.

Fantastic stay

We (my SIL and our three teenage girls) for two weeks in June 2018. It was fabulous! Sandrine, the house manager, was friendly, responsive and able to recommend a nearby spot to procure a last minute birthday cake! The villa is super comfortable and sits in a gorgeous surrounding. There are several outdoor spots to laze about in and the pool is huge with super comfy lounge chairs. The location worked perfectly - allowing for day trips to Cassis, mornings exploring many different markets and tours of Roman ruins in Nimes. The kitchen is well-equipped allowing for lots of cooking with the ridiculously bountiful local produce. Highly recommend!

Family birthday fun

We had a fun time, 7 adults and 3 grandchildren. Property features were all as advertised on the website. The wonderful pool and well equipped pool house were a major plus, ideal for small children and adults to enjoy. The property was spacious, well equipped with the essentials and extras such as table tennis, Boules, and the large garden ensured privacy. Easy access to nearby village and town for shopping, etc. Walks, cycle ways and Provence's wonderful countryside and unspoilt way of life all on the doorstep.

Magical Home, Perfect Location!

Our large family traveled from the US to spend a beautiful week at Mas Pin-Fontaine in mid-June 2017, and it is a trip we will remember fondly for years to come. It was comfortable and accommodating for 5 adults and 2 young children, even in the heat of the summer. The grounds are gorgeous and well landscaped, the pool is very very large, and the facilities kept us happy and busy all week long (especially the outdoor grill, the bocce court, and the ping pong table). The master bedroom and bathroom is especially pretty, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make delicious meals. Thank you to Christine for being responsive and helpful. We hope to return!
