The Location

Cucuron is a great Provence village, combining fantastic looks, medieval history and charm with all the amenities you need: bakeries, butchers, grocery store, bank, cafes and restaurants, and even a Michelin-starred restaurant (La Petite Maison).

At the centre of the village of Cucuron is its huge water basin surrounded by centuries-old plane trees, which you may remember from the film 'A Good Year'. This is where the weekly market takes place, and is also home to restaurants and cafes.

The basin (bassin) of Cucuron is the natural focal point of the village, it is where the market is held and where you can eat under the towering plane trees.

Cucuron is surrounded by vineyards and stunning Provence countryside, with the Luberon mountain on its north side. It is very close to other beautiful Luberon villages - Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Ansouis, Cadenet, La Tour d'Aigues - and 35 minutes from Aix en Provence.

Cucuron leaves you feeling well rested.

Five minutes away from Cucuron is the Etang de la Bonde (pictured below right), a big swimming lake with sandy beach. Cucuron also has communal tennis courts.

Cucuron is set in the vineyards at the foot of the Luberon mountain.

Everything You Could Want and More

If you're looking for a place to stay in the Luberon area, you won't do better than Le Guyet. Bright, spacious, modern and with all the comforts of home, this ground floor one bedroom flat is made all the more delightful by its own private terrace where you can relax and enjoy your morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of wine after a long day of touring the countryside. The village of Cucuron has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable - a small but well stocked supermarket, a modern winery, three boulangeries, the weekly market by the pond, and seven restaurants, ranging from the modest to a one star Michelin establishment, offering some of the best meals we have enjoyed anywhere - and all within a five minute stroll from the flat. We stayed at Le Guyet for two weeks and enjoyed every minute. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable home base from which to explore Provence.

we simply loved Le Gayet. It is clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable, quiet, yet only a short walk from the centre of Cucuron which is a delightful village with everything you need. Le Gayet is lovely to come back to after a day exploring the perched villages of the Luberon or enjoying a swim in nearby l'etang de Bonde. The outside seating/dining area is a bonus and so peaceful. Helen is the perfect host - helpful, friendly, but never intrusive and booking was very easy as she always responded immediately to any requests. A small negative for us was the lack of air conditioning and especially in the bedroom. There are fans available but we stayed during a heatwave which was exceptionally hot and this may not be an issue during a 'normal' summer. Cucuron is a lovely base for touring the Luberon and Le Gayet is the perfect accommodation. We highly recommend it. Thank you Helen!

A gem in Provence

There is always angst when you choose a place to stay for a week in an area you’ve never been so it’s wonderful when it lives up to what you hoped it would be. A well appointed apartment in a quiet small village that hasn’t been totally spoilt by all us tourists. Cucuron has a great market on Tuesday, only really surpassed by Lourmarin’s much bigger market. The Cucuron & Lourmarin side of the Luberon range is more pleasant than the more touristy north side and access to the other towns is easy if you are driving. Le Gayet was very comfortable with all that we needed or wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cucuron.
