Gordes Apartment 1, Gordes, Provence

1-bedroom apartment in fantastic Gordes village location

This elegant 1-bedroom apartment is in a fantastic location right in the centre of Gordes on Place du Chateau. On the doorstep are the many restaurants and cafes of Gordes, the weekly market, and the life of an idyllic Provence village. You can rent for two nights or more.

Living Room

The living room has sofa, dining table for two and TV/DVD. The room opens onto a balcony over the Place du Chateau, which is the beating heart of village life in Gordes. There is a table and chairs on the balcony so you can watch the world go by.

The apartment has a 'cupboard kitchen' with 2-ring cooker, sink, kettle and fridge, suitable for preparing a basic meal, but really this is a base for people who will be mostly eating out. There are many restaurants within a 2-minute walk of the apartment.

The living room opens out onto the balcony overlooking the centre of Gordes, with the castle opposite.

The apartment is up two flights of stairs and there are no lifts in the ancient buildings of Gordes. So it is not suitable for people with mobility problems.

The bedroom is at the back of the building with a superb, long and wide view over the valley to the Luberon mountain and the setting sun.

The bed is 1.6m wide (5.25ft) and its en suite bathroom has shower, basin and WC.

The view from the balcony at the front is of the chateau and the Place du Chateau (above).

There is no parking spot with the apartment but there are car parking areas dotted around the village, the closest is 40 metres away. Gordes is lively in the daytime, but pleasingly peaceful in the evening.

The Location

Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Gordes Apartment 1 is in an amazing location right in the centre of the stunning village of Gordes. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive all year round. It has the best amenities of any Luberon village, including a spa right across the road.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult and many others. Each is a short drive away. The towns of Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, 15 minutes away, are also must-sees.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the colourful Gordes market on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille are about an hour's drive or less; the natural wonders of the Les Baux de Provence, Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.
