Garden & Pool

The house faces south so the garden, dining terrace and pool area are all sunny and with the wonderful view over the Luberon valley. The garden extends over 2500 square metres (27,000 sq ft), with lawn and olive trees, oaks and roses.

The pool is heated and measures 13m x 6m (42 x 20ft), with steps at one end. It does not use chlorine, as it has a UV filter system. The pool has an electronic sliding cover for security and to keep the warmth in. There are sunloungers, sunchairs and parasols around the pool.

The poolhouse has a summer kitchen with dishwasher, fridge and acrylic tableware for eating poolside, as well as a gas barbecue. Also in the poolhouse is a WC and there are two outdoor showers.

The terrace runs along the front of the house and is raised above the garden, so it has an even better view, and not just of the valley - to the other side is framed the beautiful village of Gordes.

By the kitchen and living room is a large dining table with overhead shade. Alongside this is a sitting area with parasols and then steps go down to 6 bedrooms not in the main house.

The big outside dining table on the terrace by the kitchen, and the view of Gordes.

Guests of all ages will enjoy the outdoor ping pong table and the gravelled area for playing boules/petanque.

In addition to the communal spaces, most of the bedrooms have their own patio area with table and chairs. There is plenty of secure, gated parking at the back of the house.

The Location

Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Mas de Gordes is in a peaceful setting only half a mile (10 minutes walk) from the centre of the stunning village of Gordes. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive all year round. It has the best amenities of any Luberon village.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult and many others. Each is a short drive away. The towns of Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, 15 minutes away, are also must-sees.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the colourful Gordes market on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille are about an hour's drive or less; the natural wonders of the Les Baux de Provence, Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.

Amazing!

We rented Mas de Gordes for a month this summer and never wanted to leave. We had a wonderful experience from rental to checkout. The house is stunning: superb views over the valley, newly decorated and very tasteful. It is not far from Avignon and a short walk to Gordes. As it was once a B&B, there is more privacy than some other villas. It can accommodate a lot of guests without feeling crowded. Air conditioning was also a plus! Sarah the concierge helped us book a chef, massage treatments, restaurant reservations and cars. She looked out for us the whole visit to make sure everything went smoothly. Mas de Gordes is heaven and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Wonderful accommodation to a high standard. And a stunning view

18 of us stayed here and we all agreed it surpassed our most optimistic expectations. The house is very well-appointed with more facilities than you would ever need. There is even a dishwasher and fridge down at the pool. Any problems were soon rectified by Sara who looks after the place. The view is magnificent and we never tired of sitting on the terrace gazing out over the valley. All the rooms were of a high standard with the only complaint being that the bathroom floors got wet when using the showers which had no curtains to keep the water in. We had 6 cars with us and there was plenty parking for more if required. Having said that, the access road was in poor condition, very narrow and some huge potholes; you wouldn't want to take a sports car along it and one of our cars grounded going through the gate. The place is very secure with a key entry gate and an electric fence (apparently to keep wild boar out). This would be our first choice if we ever visit the area again. Highly recommended.
