Gordes Apartment 2, Gordes, Provence

Experience Provence village life in the heart of Gordes

The apartment is ringed on the left and indicated with an arrow on the right, on Place du Chateau in Gordes.

A newly refurbished 1-bedroom apartment in an unbeatable location right in the centre of Gordes on Place du Chateau. On the doorstep are the many restaurants and cafes of Gordes, the weekly market, and the life of a perfect Provence village. You can rent for two nights or more, year-round. The apartment sleeps 2 plus 2 children.

Living Room

The living room at the front of the apartment.

At the front of the apartment, the living room has two armchairs, dining table and TV/DVD. The window has a great view over Place du Chateau, which is the beating heart of village life in Gordes.

The apartment has a 'cupboard kitchen' with 2-ring cooker, sink, kettle and fridge, suitable for preparing a basic meal, but really this is a base for people who will be mostly eating out. There are many restaurants within a 2-minute walk of the apartment.

The apartment is up three flights of stairs and there are no lifts in the ancient buildings of Gordes, so it is not suitable for people with mobility problems.

Bedroom view.

The bedroom is at the back of the building with a superb, long and wide view over the valley to the Luberon mountain and the setting sun (left).

The bed is 1.6m wide (5.25ft) and its en suite bathroom has shower, basin and WC.

There is also a second bedroom on the mezzanine above the living room (below right), which could be used for children, but it should be noted that the living room only has two armchairs so is not furnished for more than two people.

There is no parking spot with the apartment but there are car parking areas dotted around the village, the closest is 40 metres away. Gordes is lively in the daytime, but pleasingly peaceful in the evening.

The Location

Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The apartment is in an amazing location right in the centre of the stunning village of Gordes. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive all year round. It has the best amenities of any Luberon village.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult and many others. Each is a short drive away. The towns of Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, 15 minutes away, are also must-sees.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the colourful Gordes market on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille are about an hour's drive or less; the natural wonders of the Les Baux de Provence, Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.

Wonderful weekend

Gordes is a beautiful town in the middle of Provence with beautiful vistas. Four of us traveled here for a wedding for the weekend and were pleased to see that the apartment was perfectly located in the center of town. Even our friends, who have long traveled to the Luberon were very impressed with the location of the apt. The apt is at the very top of a set of steep spiral stairs, but it is well worth it. It is well decorated and clean. Pascal is knowledgeable about the area and has many suggestions. We had a great time and a wonderful weekend.

Highly recommended for village experience

We had a lovely stay. The apartment was perfectly situated in a charming old building in the centre of Gordes, with delightful views of the countryside from the bedroom, and an engaging view of the castle and characterful centre of Gordes below. Our kids (7 and 10) really enjoyed sleeping in the mezzanine room above the lounge, giving us some much appreciated privacy in the master bedroom with perfect en suite. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an experience right in the heart of the village.

Great to be in the heart of Gordes

We had a great time staying at the place, the location is right at the heart of Gordes and it's amazing to be able to stay in such a beautiful place. The owner helped us with a lot of great recommendations about where to eat and where to visit. We particularly love our dinning at La Trinquette right next door -- we all agree that it was the best meal during our 10-day trip in Italy and France. The only thing about the unit is that please be warned that there are a lot of steps (my dad counted 58) to get to the unit, just be physically prepared and don't bring heavy luggages!
