Zen Two, Gordes, Provence

2-bedroom cottage in the Provence countryside between Gordes and Goult

The Zen House has an outside sitting room and its own pool.

Zen Two is a very comfortable cottage with 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, a pool that can be heated, and a terrace with a beautiful Luberon view. (This house is not suitable for children).

Living Rooms

Dining/living room with seating for four Well equipped kitchen

In the middle part of the house is the dining/living room with table and chairs, cushioned bench and two armchairs. Behind this is the kitchen.

The kitchen has a 4-ring stove and oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washing machine, coffee machine, and plenty of pots, pans and cooking utensils.

There is TV with satellite stations, that includes CNN and UK channels, as well as ADSL internet.

Separate to the kitchen is a clothes washing machine and dryer.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms have a large bed, air conditioning, en suite bathroom and dressing room.

Both bedrooms are the same size and have air conditioning and an en suite bathroom. The bathrooms are the same too (above right), with a walk-in shower, basin, WC and a window.

Bedrooms have a queen-size double (1.6m wide, 2m long, or 62 inches wide by 6'6" long) with firm mattress.

Each bedroom also has a small dressing room and plenty of storage for clothes.

Garden & Pool

In front of the house (above) is the patio with dining table under the shade of a pergola, comfortable lounging furniture, and with a great view over the Luberon valley, with the three perched villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste and Goult (below).

The pool amid the pines and oaks, and the view from the terrace in front of the house.

The pool is 40 metres from the house. It is 4m x 4.5m with a counter-current option so you can swim for exercise on the spot, and jacuzzi jets on one wall for a massage.

The pool can be heated at cost of 100 euros per week, and this would extend the swimming season from April to October.

The sitting room is effectively outside, with furniture for dining and relaxing.

The house is on the grounds of the owner's house, set well away in a private part of the land, with its own access and parking. You needn't see the owner at all, but if you need help or advice, he knows everything about the Luberon.

The Location

Gordes, 4 miles away, is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The house is in quiet and beautiful countryside, right in the Golden Triangle of the Luberon, with the closest villages Gordes, 4 miles away, and Goult, 2.5miles away.

Around the house you will find cherry trees where you can eat your fill in May and June, and a total calm broken only by birdsong and the choir of cicadas. You can wonder the hilltop behind the house and discover stone structures of antiquity - dolmen, borie, menhir, a Roman path - and get to the village of Gordes across country in 45 minutes.

Gordes and Goult are two of the most striking villages of Provence. Gordes is the most majestic of the Luberon hill-top villages, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and cultural events, while Goult is a relatively unknown treasure, with good eateries and a beautifully preserved old neighbourhood with bakery, butcher, grocery store.

Close by are all the other notable hill-top villages like Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Goult, Oppede le vieux, and Roussillon. Each is 10-15 minutes away, and Lourmarin is 30 minutes.

Fontaine de Vaucluse and the antiques capital of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 15 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the one in Gordes on Tuesday mornings.

Recommended!

We have just returned from a two week stay in this lovely Gite. The setting is secluded, peaceful and relaxing. The house is fully equipped with everything that is needed and all in excellent condition. The swimming pool is small but well maintained. The area offers plenty to see and do, the villages are picturesque and the many markets are well worth a visit. Jacques and Vincent the hosts were there when needed but respected our privacy. We would recommend Zen house and would love to return.

Perfect.

There is no other word but PERFECT to describe our stay in Zen House. We had stayed in Writer's House in early Spring this year and absolutely loved it but the view from Zen House topped it all!! It was so peaceful and relaxing and we loved the pool which was secluded and very private. The house was beautifully maintained and there was nothing that we needed that wasn't there. It was good to see Vincent and Jacques again and they are impeccable hosts who are there if you need them but also respect your privacy. I would have no hesitation in recommending Zen House to friends or family and we would most certainly return to this idyllic little haven. I wish we were there now!!! Thank you for such a perfect stay Jacques and Vincent.

Delightful experience

My husband and I have spent a week at Zen house and have had a wonderful time. The facilities are excellent and the location is stunning. It is peaceful, private and relaxing. The house is cosy but spacious, with big rooms and high ceilings and a patio with gorgeous views. I'll definitely be booking again next time we get to Luberon!
