The Location

Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The beautiful perched village of Gordes is 2km away. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive all year round. It has the best amenities of any Luberon village.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult and many others. Each is a short drive away. The towns of Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, 15 minutes away, are also must-sees.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the colourful Gordes market on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille are about an hour's drive or less; the natural wonders of the Les Baux de Provence, Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.

Lovely and secluded

I stayed at La Senancole the last two weeks of August 2018 with a couple of friends and we had the best girls holiday ever! The house is charming and typically Provencal in its style - cute shutters and a lovely new living room area with cane furniture overlooking the pool. Secluded and tastefully decorated by Valerie with stylish furniture and a small well equipped kitchen the house is perfect base. We spent most of our days lounging by the pool looking at the truly amazing view of trees, nature and blue skies in our own peaceful oasis listening to the birds . What is so great about the house is it is so quiet - situated in a very beautiful area (amongst other hidden gems of houses - not that you would ever really know as so quiet) - yet we could walk up to Gordes for a coffee in 25 minutes and drive to the fabulous U supermarket ( and sunday market ) at Coustellet in 7 mins! We also managed to fit in a day trip to the fantastic art vineyard Chateau La Coste and weekend away horse riding in the Camargue. This was probably one of the best holidays I have ever had thanks in part to the glorious late August weather ( rain for 2 hours only once in the day in two weeks) but also due to such a magical secluded and verdant spot which has been loved and cared for by Valerie. Also if you like walking this is the perfect house as set in a myriad of paths and nature trails - and we walked the quiet footpaths each day in the cooler hours where you can feel so totally at one with the stunning surroundings. thank you Valerie.

Beautiful Provence

Our young family of four had a lovely time at La Senancole which we used as a base to visit the beautiful towns, wineries, markets and other tourist attractions of The Luberon region of Provence. The weather was warm and returning to the beautiful villa in the afternoons to enjoy the pool and the peaceful surroundings was such a delight. The villa was just lovely and romantic, exactly how we thought Provence would be. Only a short distance from the lovely Gordes, it is in a wonderful location.
