Villa Belle Vue is a holiday rental villa 1km from the stunning hill-top village of Gordes, available for weekly rentals. The villa has 4 bedrooms, sleeping 8 people, and is set high above the Luberon valley, so there are beautiful views from all the rooms, the garden and the swimming pool.

Living Rooms

Living room opening onto south-facing patio.

The elegant living room is centred on the fireplace, with comfortable sofas and a dining table. There is a wide-screen TV with CanalSat satellite channels including CNN and BBC international options, as well as all the French stations. DVD player too.

At the other end of the living room is a dining table and through the arch is the kitchen.

Wireless high-speed internet (WiFi) is also provided, and calls within France are free.

Well-equipped kitchen with high-quality appliances.

The kitchen is very well equipped with a professional, double-width cooker and American fridge-freezer. There are all sorts of gadgets and all the eseentials, and plenty of crockery and glassware. Large windows open from the kitchen to the outside dining table under the trellis.

A separate laundry room houses the washing and drying machines. There is also a downstairs guest WC.

Bedrooms

There are 4 bedrooms, sleeping 8 people, and 3 bathrooms.

The spacious master bedroom (above) includes a writing desk, a generous wall of closets, en suite bathroom with bath, and outside is its own patio with a beautiful view. The bed is 1.8m wide (6ft).

Bedroom 2 and its en suite bathroom.

Bedroom 2 (above) has a 1.6m-wide bed (5.25ft) and en suite shower room with basin.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 can be configured as twin rooms or doubles.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 (above) are the same size, with either 2 single beds or a double that is 1.8m wide (6 ft) in one and 1.6m wide (5.25ft) in the other. (Bed configuration can be chosen in advance but cannot change during the week).

Between bedrooms 3 and 4 is the bathroom they share (above left) with walk-in shower and basin, as well as the separate WC.

Garden & Pool

At the front of the house, facing south to the view, are places to sit, eat and drink under the shade of the pergola.

There are two shaded patio areas at the front of the house, for outside eating, one right outside the kitchen, along with barbecue. After that there is the lawn and olive grove and then the amazing high view.

Behind and up a level is the pool. The pool is 12m x 6m. It is fenced but you also need to keep two doors upstairs locked to keep children out. So it may not be suitable for smaller children.

Sunloungers and deckchairs make the pool a comfortable place to live the life.

There are sunloungers and table and chairs by the pool, along with a large parasol and the shade of a trellis.

Right: The patio outside the master bedroom, which is on the same level as the pool.

There is a gate at street level with coded access, and enough parking for three cars in the shade (see left).

The Location

Villa Belle Vue is 1 km from the stunning village of Gordes, which is the biggest of the Luberon hill-top villages, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and cultural events, so it is an ideal base from which to explore the Luberon and Provence.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon and many others. Each is a short drive away.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the one in Gordes on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille; the natural wonders of the Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.

Fantastic house and pool

This is a truly wonderful house. The location is perfect. You can walk into Gordes, up rather a steep hill, where there are good restaurants and boulangerie. Being on the side of the hill affords an amazing view. The house is beautifully decorated with tasteful, French furniture and accessories. (Not a hint of Ikea). The pool is one of the best we have ever had, it is set into the hill surrounded by planting and also has an amazing view. The water was really fresh and it's long enough to swim lengths. And the icing on the cake is the owner Josiane. She lives next door so on the very few occasions we needed her she came straight away. I couldn't recommend this house too highly - we have booked for next year! Thank you Josiane

Relaxed family holiday

Three generations of our family stayed at Belle Vue for two weeks in the summer of 2018, our ages ranged from over 70 to under 2 years and we all had a good time. The house and surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. We spent hours just looking at the mountains across valley, and watching the Sun and Moon rise or looking at the stars. A well-equipped laundry room and kitchen meant that family living was as easy as living at home. The large open plan living room suited the needs for small children to play with their toys in the early morning while the older children could watch TV. The pool is lovely and perfect for good and moderate swimmers – the deep section near the centre of the deep end is very deep at a guess over 2m and the shallow end about 1m – small children obviously need attention. There are several places to sit out either in or shaded from the sun – family breakfasts and dinners under the vine canopy were a real pleasure. The bedrooms are of a useful size and the two WCs are separate from the bathrooms so there is no clash of needs. The village is Gordes is stunning to look at and the walk up the hill from Belle Vue takes an averagely fit person about 20 mins, and maybe 15 mins to walk down along a road that is not very busy – but children need to be watched. Just up the hill are the bins for general rubbish and to dump glass you need to go into Coustellet – about 8 mins away. The Supermarket in Coustellet is very good and the Coustellet Sunday market is brilliant. The mini supermarket and veggie shop and deli in Gordes are also good. All in all a lovely comfortable relaxed family holiday helped by Marie Claire who arrived three times a week for housekeeping.

Belle Vue,fantastique

We were welcomed to the gorgeous Belle Vue by Josiane. Our group of 7 adults found the house spacious and very comfortable. We loved shopping in the local markets and returning to cook in the well appointed kitchen. There were several choices of dining areas and our favourite was the terrace which had expansive views. The swimming pool was lovely, with lots of sitting spaces. Belle Vue was a fantastic location to explore Gordes and the many villages located on the surrounding hill tops from. We did this on foot, by road bike and by car. We had a fabulous holiday and hope to return to Belle Vue and Gordes before too long! Josiane was wonderful to deal with. Highly recommended
