The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, sleeping 8. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and upstairs.

Garden & Pool

The house faces south so the garden, dining terrace and pool area are all sunny and with the wonderful view over the Luberon valley. The garden extends over 2500 square metres (27,000 sq ft), with lawn and olive trees, oaks and roses.

The pool is heated and measures 13m x 6m (42 x 20ft), with steps at one end. It does not use chlorine, as it has a UV filter system. The pool has an electronic sliding cover for security and to keep the warmth in. There are sunloungers, sunchairs and parasols around the pool.

The poolhouse has a summer kitchen with dishwasher, fridge and acrylic tableware for eating poolside, as well as a gas barbecue. Also in the poolhouse is a WC and there are two outdoor showers.

The terrace runs along the front of the house and is raised above the garden, so it has an even better view, and not just of the valley - to the other side is framed the beautiful village of Gordes.

By the kitchen and living room is a large dining table with overhead shade. Alongside this is a sitting area with parasols and then steps go down to 6 bedrooms not in the main house.

Guests of all ages will enjoy the outdoor ping pong table and the gravelled area for playing boules/petanque.

In addition to the communal spaces, most of the bedrooms have their own patio area with table and chairs. There is plenty of secure, gated parking at the back of the house.

Note: on the pictures of the property the left-hand side consists of 6 additional bedrooms which are not available for this 4-bedroom version of the property. The main house has the 4 bedrooms and living rooms depicted on this page. The additional 6 bedrooms are locked and out of use so you still get the whole of the property and garden to yourselves. If you are interested in the 10-bedroom version of this house for large gatherings you can see that here: Mas de Gordes. It is also possible to rent this house with more than 4 bedrooms if needed, at a pro rata cost.

The Location

Gordes is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Maison de Gordes is in a peaceful setting only half a mile (10 minutes walk) from the centre of the stunning village of Gordes. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive all year round. It has the best amenities of any Luberon village.

The Luberon is known for the beauty of its perched villages, in addition to Gordes, close by are Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult and many others. Each is a short drive away. The towns of Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, 15 minutes away, are also must-sees.

You'll find a market every day at a different village, including the colourful Gordes market on Tuesday mornings.

Away from the Luberon, the rest of Provence is at most a day-trip away: the cities of Avignon, Aix, Arles, Nimes, Marseille are about an hour's drive or less; the natural wonders of the Les Baux de Provence, Gorges du Verdon, the Alps and the Rhone wine trail; the French Riviera (Cote d'Azur) from Monte Carlo to St Tropez. Even Italy and Spain are in striking distance.

This property exceeded our expectations

We rented the 4 bedroom house and were surprised at the livability of the house....the amenities were better than expected. We loved the terrace for the sunrise and sunset views as well as views of the village of Gordes....just magical! The house manager was always available and, again, went above and beyond. On less than 24 hours notice she arranged a private driver to the Avignon TGV station for one of our group. We highly recommend this property and would rent again

Your review title

This lovely property offered a great setting for a gathering of family and friends last week. The communal spaces are comfortable and welcoming, the kitchen very well equipped and the pool a delight. Perhaps most importantly, the beds are comfortable and the air-conditioning effective. We found it easy to access the beautiful villages and various points of interest nearby. Any little niggles were swiftly addressed by the house manager. All in all, a relaxing and enjoyable base for a large party.

An exceptional property

We really appreciated our stay in this property the week before last. We echo the very good reviews of the house and its surroundings; it really is quite stunning. We would add that there is, within a 15 minute drive, a supermarket, a very good baker’s, a greengrocer’s that sells good quality fruit and vegetables, and a butcher’s. In view of the age differences within our group, including a baby, we particularly appreciated the fact that in addition to the terraces, there are two big living rooms separated from each other, providing an option of relative peace. Finally our stay would not have been the same without Sarah, the property manager, who with her good humour, went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. We would certainly return.
