The Goult Studio, Goult, Provence

Delightful village hideaway for two with gorgeous view

Looking up at the studio from the garden, and the view from within.

The Goult Studio is a delightful rental in a quiet spot right in the village of Goult, one of the jewels of the Luberon. It is a perfect base for a couple wishing to explore the Luberon and Provence, and come home to air conditioned comfort and a wonderful view from both house and garden.

Living Room

The studio is 30 square metres (320 sq ft), full of light, and with the beautiful view always at the forefront. A wide floor-to-ceiling opening faces south to the Luberon, with sliding windows that glide fully into the wall.

The fitted kitchen has built-in fridge with freezer compartment, 2-ring ceramic cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle.

You can dine inside or on the patio.

Two armchairs can face the view or the TV with French and English channels (Orange TV). The studio has high-speed WiFi internet.

The evening light on the Luberon valley laid out to the south.

The bed is 1.8m (6ft) wide, and en suite is the bathroom with walk-in shower, basin and WC. The bed can also be made up as two single beds if preferred.

The patio at the front of the studio, which is screened off from the owner's property.

At the front of the studio is the patio with pergola overhead, table and chairs, and two garden armchairs. There is a Weber gas barbecue for outdoor grilling. The studio is screened off from the owner's property and has its own part of the garden.

Below the studio in the garden is a verdant, shaded spot with hammock, loungers and seating area. It also has the view through the lush vegetation.

Your own part of the garden below the studio, with hammock, sunloungers, seating area.

Also on the garden level is an outdoor shower for cooling off.

The studio was newly converted in 2014 and is next door to the owner's house, but separate and private. The owner is English-speaking and very happy to help with local advice, language problems, etc.

The Location

Scenes from the village of Goult, in the heart of the Luberon.

The studio is in Goult, one of the best villages of the Luberon. It is a 1-minute stroll to all the amenities, but in a very quiet and peaceful setting. Goult is a little-known gem of a village, with a lovely atmosphere, a good café/restaurant on the main square, and several other good restaurants, as well as a 'hidden' and beautifully preserved old neighbourhood with bakery, butcher, grocery store. The village also has public tennis courts.

Goult has a seasonal market on Thursday mornings, and there is a market in a nearby village every day of the week.

The other perched hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, and Oppede le vieux are all 10-15 minutes away.

Fontaine de Vaucluse and the antiques capital of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 20 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

You can make a comfortable day-trip to the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Nearby Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Goult Studio - Superb

What a relaxing, little gem. High quality, well equipped apartment with fantastic views and excellent location. Whether you want to explore wonderful Provence (using either 2 or 4 wheels), walk the Luberon hills (on one of Ailie's lovely recommended trails) or just stroll the short distance to the vibrant village centre for a beer, coffee or meal (several good restaurants and Cafe de la Poste - which is a must !) then this place is ideal. Ailie also made us feel welcome right from the start. Always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, we fell on our feet when we landed here. We both loved it.

Beautiful studio with everything you could possibly need and more. One of the most comfortable beds we have slept on holiday and a wonderful shower. The dishwasher was a welcome extra. This studio was perfect and of a very high standard with a stunning picture view from the lounge area. Truly Lovely host always ready to help in any way possible . A most relaxing week in a superb spot in the most beautiful villages of the Luberon , a must for those with discerning tastes.

Something Special

Having read the previous reviews I feel that there is nothing that I can add to the exceptionally positive comments. I agree with them all. Having travelled to France on many occasions I can honestly say that the studio is the best self catering accommodation in which I have ever stayed. Ailie has thought of absolutely everything that visitors could ever need and she is most helpful with everything. The view of the Luberon hills from the studio is wonderful, the patio lovely and private and the garden has various seating areas in sun and shade. The proximity to the village square adds to the feeling that this is an ideal place to come and unwind totally even without a car. The whole experience was so wonderful that our return visit has already been agreed.
