Maison des Amis, Goult, Provence

Excellent 2-bedroom village cottage in Goult

La Maison des Amis is an idyllic rental cottage for up to 4 people, right in the beautiful village of Goult, in the Luberon region of Provence. You can walk to the bakery, cafe and restaurants in less than a minute. The house is not suitable for children under 14.

Living Rooms

Downstairs is open plan with living room, dining table and kitchen, opening onto the garden and pool. In the living room are sofa and armchairs around a fireplace, and TV with British Freesat channels. The house has high-speed WiFi internet and a Bluetooth sound-dock.

The kitchen has oven, 2-ring cooker, Nespresso, dishwasher and fridge. There is a washing machine in an outhouse in the garden.

The house sleeps 4 in two double bedrooms upstairs.

The master bedroom has a 1.5m-wide double (5ft) and a terrace with view over the rooftops of Goult.

Bedroom 2 has a 1.4m-wide double (4.6ft). The bathroom has a shower, basin and WC.

Garden & Pool

The cottage is in the grounds of the owners' house, but has exclusive use of both garden and pool. The owners are not usually in residence during rentals.

The garden has a lawned area and a terraced area, with the pool being 8m x 3m (26 x 10ft). This property is not suitable for young children due to the low wall around the lawn area.

There are sunloungers and parasol by the pool, and a separate dining table and chairs with barbecue under the shade of a pergola (above centre).

The garden is an enchanting, calm space very close to the life of the village.

Barbecue under the pergola. View from upstairs terrace over rooftops of Goult to Luberon mountain.

The Location

Scenes from the village of Goult, in the heart of the Luberon.

The house is right in Goult, one of the best villages of the Luberon. Goult is a little-known gem of a village, with a lovely atmosphere, a good café/restaurant on the main square, and several other good restaurants, as well as a 'hidden' and beautifully preserved old neighbourhood with bakery, butcher, grocery store - all are less than one minute's walk away. The village also has public tennis courts.

Goult has a seasonal market on Thursday mornings, and there is a market in a nearby village every day of the week.

The other perched hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, and Oppede le vieux are all 10-15 minutes away.

Fontaine de Vaucluse and the antiques capital of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 20 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

You can make a comfortable day-trip to the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Great Holiday

Our family of 3 (dad, mum and 15 year old daughter) enjoyed a great week at Maison des Amis. Whilst we have previously holidayed in France several times, this was our first visit to Provence with our daughter. Goult itself is a perfect village, slightly off the main tourist route but serviced by local shops which provide everything you need. A larger supermarket is approx. 10 mins drive away, in Coustellet. There are also 3 or 4 good restaurants in Goult, all within 5 minutes walk of the property, including an excellent 'take away' pizzeria if you want something simpler and quicker. Maison des Amis is a beautiful property, extremely well equipped and supplied with everything you could wish for, even down to salt, pepper and dishwasher tablets !! The property was immaculately clean and whilst the owners were not around, we were met on arrival by Sylvia, a most helpful lady who makes herself available to answer any questions you may have for the duration of your stay. The pool is perfect for cooling down after a morning out visiting one of the nearby villages. There is also a helpful book in the property, with details of village amenities and restaurants slightly further afield, which we found to be useful and accurate. We would have no hesitation in recommending Maison des Amis to anyone visiting the Luberon.

A Little Jewel

After the 4th time in a row at Maison des Amis I still have the same complaint as every year: why do I have to leave??? This little jewel hidden in one of the most charming villages of the Luberon is perfect in many ways - as it is so quiet, it is the ideal place to unwind & relax with beautiful in- and outdoor space, the walking vicinity to the grocery, butcher, bakery & café makes you feel part of the village life & the daily swimming in the perfectly sized pool is an additional plus for those who like some activity. The house is well equipped with all one needs & at the same time shows the owner’s love for art & beautiful things. Maybe one year I won’t have any complaints anymore - but that only if I don’t have to leave.

Exceptional Property!!

I wanted to thank you so very much for our fabulous stay at your wonderful property! The house and village were everything we hoped for and more. Pictures really don’t do it justice. I complement you on your fantastic, thoughtful, careful renovation of the property. I imagine you spent a considerable amount of time on the project. It certainly shows! Everything is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the village completely; from windmills to restaurants and setting. Even the incredible topiary in the cemetery! I think you found a gem. Sylvia was charming, wonderful, helpful, and very responsive. Thank you so much for a perfect accommodation!
