Maison des Amis, Goult, Provence

Excellent 2-bedroom village cottage in Goult

La Maison des Amis is an idyllic rental cottage for up to 4 people, right in the beautiful village of Goult, in the Luberon region of Provence. You can walk to the bakery, cafe and restaurants in less than a minute. The house is not suitable for children under 14.

Living Rooms

Downstairs is open plan with living room, dining table and kitchen, opening onto the garden and pool. In the living room are sofa and armchairs around a fireplace, and TV with British Freesat channels. The house has high-speed WiFi internet and a Bluetooth sound-dock.

The kitchen has oven, 2-ring cooker, dishwasher and fridge. There is a washing machine in an outhouse in the garden.

The house sleeps 4 in two double bedrooms upstairs.

The master bedroom has a 1.5m-wide double (5ft) and a terrace with view over the rooftops of Goult.

Bedroom 2 has a 1.4m-wide double (4.6ft). The bathroom has a shower, basin and WC.

Garden & Pool

The cottage is in the grounds of the owners' house, but has exclusive use of both garden and pool. The owners are not usually in residence during rentals.

The garden has a lawned area and a terraced area, with the pool being 8m x 3m (26 x 10ft). This property is not suitable for young children due to the low wall around the lawn area.

There are sunloungers and parasol by the pool, and a separate dining table and chairs with barbecue under the shade of a pergola (above centre).

The garden is an enchanting, calm space very close to the life of the village.

Barbecue under the pergola. View from upstairs terrace over rooftops of Goult to Luberon mountain.

The Location

Scenes from the village of Goult, in the heart of the Luberon.

The house is right in Goult, one of the best villages of the Luberon. Goult is a little-known gem of a village, with a lovely atmosphere, a good café/restaurant on the main square, and several other good restaurants, as well as a 'hidden' and beautifully preserved old neighbourhood with bakery, butcher, grocery store - all are less than one minute's walk away. The village also has public tennis courts.

Goult has a seasonal market on Thursday mornings, and there is a market in a nearby village every day of the week.

The other perched hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, and Oppede le vieux are all 10-15 minutes away.

Fontaine de Vaucluse and the antiques capital of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 20 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

You can make a comfortable day-trip to the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Exceptional Property!!

I wanted to thank you so very much for our fabulous stay at your wonderful property! The house and village were everything we hoped for and more. Pictures really don’t do it justice. I complement you on your fantastic, thoughtful, careful renovation of the property. I imagine you spent a considerable amount of time on the project. It certainly shows! Everything is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the village completely; from windmills to restaurants and setting. Even the incredible topiary in the cemetery! I think you found a gem. Sylvia was charming, wonderful, helpful, and very responsive. Thank you so much for a perfect accommodation!

A perfect sanctuary

This is our family’s third stay at Maison des Amis and we truly love it. It’s location and ambience provide the perfect atmosphere for enjoying the quiet magic of Goult. Surrounded by the ancient stone walls of the chateau and other manors, it is a private sanctuary to return to after each outing. The lawn, swimming pool and plantings create a feeling of expanse. The house is beautifully conceived to ensure all needs are met.

A real treasure

My wife and I live in New Zealand. For almost 25 years we have taken a summer holiday in the Luberon Valley in Provence. We formerly owned a house in Goult which village we consider to be the most attractive “non-tourist” village in the Luberon. When we sold our house we were for some years guests of one of our Goult cycling friends but when they in turn decided to sell we had to find a holiday place in Goult so we could carry on this pleasant tradition. On the internet we found a charming and well-appointed small house in Goult near the centre of the village but in a quiet location away from the pedestrian traffic in the village. We stayed for a month in 2016 and again in 2017 and we are booked again for 2018. We adore this charming little house. It has everything we need to enjoy a Provencal summer. It has a very attractive pool near the house, two upstairs bedrooms, one of which by chance overlooks the house we used to own in Goult, a well-appointed bathroom and a lovely open kitchen dining area. It is a peaceful spot and all we hear is the occasional chatter from children down the road and the clock on the church tower chiming every hour. Its strategic position in the Luberon Valley enables us, if we wish, to visit any of the famous nearby villages. However, many of these are now heavily populated by tourists in the summer whereas Goult remains with its own distinct charms and is a wonderful refuge to which to return after a day on the bike or visiting one of the more “touristy” villages. We cannot recommend Maison des Amis highly enough. It is a real treasure.
