Mas des Sources is a newly renovated Provence house between Joucas and Murs, in an elevated position, with beautiful view over the Luberon valley, to the ochre village of Roussillon, and the Luberon mountain. The house features a big pool and sleeps 10 people: 6 adults in 3 double bedrooms, and 4 children in the kids' room.

Living Rooms

Every room faces the view, and all rooms are pictured on this page so you know exactly what you are getting. Please note that most pictures were taken in mid-winter in a pale light and bare trees - from April to October it will look very much lovelier.

Garden & Pool

The lawn to the side is on two levels. The pool with the house to the right and the view to the left.

There are 5000 sq m of garden (1.2 acres) with lawns and pool at the front and terraced olive, fruit trees and lavender to the back. Just below the property is an apricot orchard.

Out to the front is the stunning view south over the Provencal patchwork of vineyards and orchards to the Luberon mountain.

The terrace runs the length of the house at the front, and has shaded dining table with fabulous view.

The big pool is 14m x 6m (45 x 20ft), and has a depth of 1.4 to 2 m, with Roman steps, and an infra-red pool alarm for security.

Arriving at the house from the parking area.

To the front of the house, running the full length, is a terrace under the shade of great oaks. Here you can have your meals, and the kitchen opens onto it.

Another dining spot under the flower-clad pergola. The garden is colourful and elegant.

There is another eating spot on the lawn level by the pool, under the wrought-iron pergola, shaded by climbing roses.

There is plenty of parking space to the side of the house on arrival, and a garage too.

The Location

Scenes from the village of Joucas, 500 metres away.

The house is between the Luberon villages of Joucas and Murs, 2.5km from each (1.6 miles). Joucas, one of the lovely hill-top villages of the Luberon, has a food store, cafe, tennis courts and a playground. And surprisingly for a small, quiet village, there are three good restaurants to choose from. Murs also has a good restaurant and a small food store.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

An absolute delight to return to Le Mas Des Sources

About halfway between the villages of Murs and Joucas, Mas des Sources is a beautiful property. We previously went there for 2 weeks 3 years ago. We returned with the same family to the same house at the same time of year. Perfect. There are just so many wonderful walking tracks nearby (to Murs, Gordes, Goult, Roussillon, Lioux, etc), it was always a pleasure to returm home and julmp immediately into the large swimming pool which overlooks the valley and orchards. The house comfortably accomodates two families and its facilities are excellent. It is beautifully maintained and has a very well equipped kitchen. We are very keen cooks and the surrounding markets are so good, we dined at home every night. Why would we go elsewhere. We will return !!

Another great stay at Mas des Sources

We absolutely love this house and having stayed here for two weeks a couple of years ago, we were longing to come back. It is the ideal accommodation for two families with children. Fabulous pool, beautiful views and the perfect location for exploring the Luberon.
