At the front of the house is the courtyard, with the stunning views of Provence.
The courtyard has tables and chairs for eating and relaxing, and is shaded by a fig tree, a mulberry and an olive tree. Another lovely spot to sit is the shaded table of the poolhouse (below). There is also a gas BBQ.

Scenes from the village of Joucas.
The house is at the foot of Joucas, one of the lovely hill-top villages of the Luberon. Joucas has a food store, cafe, tennis courts and a playground. And surprisingly for a small, quiet village, there are three good restaurants in walking distance. All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Goult, and Oppede le vieux. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse. Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail. There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages. You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

The perfect Luberon escape
We came for a family escape in the Luberon and this was the most perfect retreat. Mas du Figuier is a beautiful stone farmhouse within the most stunning setting and is surrounded by vineyards and lavender fields. The south facing garden is totally secluded and entirely peaceful with beautiful views south of the Luberon hills and a gorgeous pool to relax by. A large fig tree shades the main courtyard and gives a perfect setting for dining. The house is beautifully kept by the owner and has a wonderful family feel to it, and is one of the best houses for a game of hide and seek. Joucas is much quieter than neighbouring villages but has a great restaurant with stunning views and a small shop with essentials. The location was perfect - a peaceful retreat but close enough to the larger Luberon villages nearby. The main problem was that we loved the house and garden so much that we found it difficult to get out to see more of the surrounding areas. We will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful place!
We came with friends to spend a week in the Lubéron. September is just beautiful! A typical Provencal house with pool and lavender fields :) A professional petanque track that we have used a lot. A perfect time to enjoy the pool and to visit this region without too much tourists. We will come back! Thank you to the owners for this beautiful place:)

Beautiful house in Joucas
Mas du Figuier is a beautiful old stone house in a fantastic setting. It is located at the foot of the village of Joucas, surrounded by vineyards and fruit orchards. The property also has a lavender field at the front and rear of the property. The house has a lovely sitting/dining room which opens onto a patio, perfect for al fresco dining. The patio has a lovely and productive fig tree and overlooks the garden, swimming pool and Luberon Hills in the distance. The swimming pool sits above a boules or petanque court which provides endless entertainment whilst enjoying sundowners and taking in the views. The house is perfectly located to explore the major sites in the Luberon, only 10 minutes drive to Gordes and Roussillon, It is a great property for a family to enjoy the delights of Provence!
