Garden & Pool

The pool is 9 x 3.8 metres (30 x 12 ft) with Roman steps at one end, and poolhouse with summer kitchen at the other.

The pool is to the back of the house and is shared with the owners (when in residence) or else the occupants of the 3-bedroom Maison Olive. It is 9 x 3.8 metres with comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs.

To the back of the house is the large garden on four levels. First there is the rear patio with dining table and barbecue (above), then up a level to the pool with summer kitchen. Two more terraced levels provide places for seclusion and enjoying the views to the north.

The pool house with summer kitchen and sunloungers on the level above the pool.

The poolhouse (above) has a summer kitchen with dishwasher, fridge and and ice machine, dining table and barbecue. There is a WC too.

Two spots to gather in the garden, the gazebo and the gravelled second level.

The garden is a very relaxing place with its many colours and scents, and for a village house it is surprisingly large, so there is room to roam and find one's own private spot.

There is off-street parking for more than one car. The road is only used by residents so it is a quiet, peaceful setting and only 2 minutes stroll into the centre of Menerbes.

The right part of the property is the 2-bedroom Maison Blanc, the left part is the 3-bedroom Maison Olive. The houses have private parts of the garden each, and share the pool.

The Location

Menerbes on its hilltop from the north (left) and from the east (right).

The village of Menerbes is a wonderful location and ideal for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, and a small grocery store. You can even get the Herald Tribune and UK press when you walk in for your croissants or coffee in the morning.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages, and in Menerbes itself there is a market on Thursdays.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Holiday bliss in the Luberon

We stayed at Maison Blanc for a week during September 2018 as part of a 6 week European holiday travelling from Perth, Australia. We were 2 adults and 2 children (aged 11 and 9). Our stay at Maison Blanc was simply amazing and was our favourite accommodation location of the entire holiday. The house is a converted French farmhouse, was superbly appointed and had everything we needed to live very comfortably for a week. After a busy few weeks in London and Paris retiring to Maison Blanc every day was bliss. We were welcomed with a basket of fresh fruit and a bottle of Rose – a nice touch, and over the following week came to enjoy drinking the local Provencal wine. The accommodation was clean, spacious and stunningly furnished, whilst the garden area was private, extensive and full of beautiful plants and trees. A highlight for our daughters was the outdoor pool and they went for a swim most days even if by mid-September the water is starting to get a little cooler. A typical day involved taking a day trip to a local village(s) and returning in the afternoon for a well-earned drink and dip in the pool. Our youngest daughter loved collecting grapes from the vines that were hanging outside the back garden and harvesting walnuts from a large tree at the front of the property. The location of the property in Menerbes was just excellent. We were able to walk (5 mins) in to the village each morning to get croissants / a baguette and in the evening stroll through the medieval streets admiring the views across the Luberon valley and on occasion stopping off for an aperitif or dinner. Our favourite place in Menerbes was café du progress, a rather unassuming café that looks small on the outside but as you walk through the café opens on to a terrace at the back with views across the beautiful Luberon valley. A charming spot which we frequented several times for late afternoon / evening drinks. We purchased a copy of Lovonne and Simon’s ‘Footsteps’ book prior to our visit which I would thoroughly recommend to allow you to plan some days in advance as well as having an item of memorabilia to look back longingly on in the future. From Menerbes we visited several villages taking several of the daytrips recommended in ‘Footsteps’, including Gordes, Rousillon, Bonnieux, Lacoste and Fontaine de Vaucluse, but we were always so happy to arrive back in Menerbes, which truly is the jewel of the Luberon. I can’t recommend Maison Blanc more highly. It was a privilege staying there and we look forward to returning again one day !! Rhodri Evans Subiaco, Perth, Western Australia

Marvelous Menerbes

Everyday in Ménerbes was lovely in La Maison Blanc. The owner was so easy and gracious to contact us. She stayed in touch with us throughout the entire process before, during, and after the rental. The home itself was in a perfect location and had all the amenities anyone would need. We wanted a truly French home and this fit the description perfectly!

"..Magnificent Maison Blanc.."

...We were hoping to find a beautiful and private home in the small, charming village of Menerbes in the Luberon Valley. We had stayed there some 14 years ago and loved the location. I searched and reviewed every rental property available for our time slot and Voila! up popped Maison Blanc! It is so lovely and sought after I had to begin booking it nearly a year in advance! The owners were very accommodating and thoughtful , especially in helping to obtain an oxygen unit which I required. It was in my bedroom and set up when we arrived! The Menerbes Pharmacie were so good to us. You cannot ask for more kindness than that! The location of house was private, yet only a 5 minute walk to the heart of the village. The fresh croissants and baguette were the hit of each morning. The home was even better than expected in every aspect I can think of. Maison Blanc was spotless, spacious and beautifully appointed with artwork adorning many of the walls. We loved the welcoming fruit and wine and flowers! The doll collection is stunning , as well. The beds and bathrooms were were comfy and well kitted out. We truly wanted for nothing, and our own parking space was icing on the cake! We enjoyed many cocktais and meals on the back patio under the grape arbor and out at poolside as well. It was heaven on earth to us.. private and surrounded by vines, and beautiful plants and flowers everywhere the eye wandered. Our three weeks flew by too quickly and a few tears were shed the day we left....I can say without hesitation I recommend Maison Blanc to anyone who is a lover of a bit of tranquility, privacy, exquisite taste and the beauty of nature.... as all of these will be yours during a stay at Maison Blanc.
