The Location

Menerbes on its hilltop from the north.

The property is 1km from the village of Menerbes, and is an ideal location for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, and a small grocery store.

Menerbes rises up like a ship from the sea of vineyards that run along the Luberon valley and is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of France'.

The village of Menerbes has ancient buildings, towers and churches, with narrow streets that wind their way up to the square at the top of the village. From up here there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside, the Luberon mountain and Mont Ventoux. In the centre of Menerbes are three restaurants, a bar, baker and a grocery store.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages, and in Menerbes itself there is a market on Thursdays.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Highly recommended!

A wonderful base for living the life of the Luberon. We enjoyed picking up produce from the local markets and cooking dinner every night. Picking up pastries from any boulangerie for afternoon coffee is highly recommended. We also enjoyed picking juicy cherries from down the road. We will always look back at the fond memories we made- our first trip as a family of three plus grandma! Would love to return one day.

A great stay in Provence

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Maison du Platane. There were lots of great places to visit, including the canoeing along the Sorgue. We thought this was an amazing home. We will definitely be recommending it in the future.
