This part of the garden belongs to Maison Olive.

Maison Olive is a Provence rental house for 6 that has everything going for it: a great location, in the sought-after hill-top village of Menerbes, a large garden, and a pool, both rarities for a village house. Maison Olive is attached to the 2-bedroom Maison Blanc next door, and the pool is shared, but each house has a separate part of the large gardens.

Garden & Pool

The large lawned garden to the side which is the house's private part of the garden.

Maison Olive has its own private part of the garden (pictured above), which is spacious and lawned with big oak trees providing shade. There is a choice of outdoor dining tables, either under the pergola by the house, or in the shade of the tree on the lawn.

The pool is 9 x 3.8 metres (30 x 12 ft) with Roman steps at one end, and poolhouse with summer kitchen at the other.

The pool is set back to the rear of the house and is shared with either the owners (when in residence) or else the occupants of the 2-bedroom Maison Blanc. It is 9 x 3.8 metres with comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs, and a poolhouse.

The gravelled terrace for outside dining and sun lounging.

To the side, by the lawn, you step out onto a gravelled terrace area with dining table and sun loungers, with a view towards the Mont Ventoux (above). There is also a barbecue.

Front door of the house is up the steps.

There is off-street parking for more than one car. The road is only used by residents so it is a quiet, peaceful setting, and only 2 minutes stroll to the centre of the village.

The Location

Menerbes on its hilltop from the north (left) and from the east (right).

The village of Menerbes is a wonderful location and ideal for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, and a small grocery store. You can even get the Herald Tribune and UK press when you walk in for your croissants or coffee in the morning.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages, and in Menerbes itself there is a market on Thursdays.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Scenes from Menerbes. There is a well stocked little grocery, bar, restaurants, baker and butcher.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderfully relaxing time at Maison Olive. The property was spotless, beautifully maintained and a perfect place for our family of 6 to recharge. The communication was exceptional which included the provision of a comprehensive folder with all the local attractions etc. We would absolutely recommend Maison Olive to others and hope to return again one day soon.

A beautiful property in an excellent location

Maison Olive is in the perfect location from which to explore the Luberon. The house has been set up to the highest standard and is in excellent condition, clean and well maintained. Simon's restaurant and local market recommendations were very helpful and greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend it.

maison olive-simply perfect!

Maison Olive is just perfect for a Provençal holiday. The house and surrounds are faultless .The maison is extremely well furnished and maintained ,with more than ample living space and a user friendly kitchen. Although we only used two bedrooms it can easily handle six guests. The pool and garden are wonderful, particularly on hot august days. It is only a very short walk into Menerbes ville which is a lovely town that appears to have recovered from Peter Mayle's book and has several good restaurants and a terrific quaint bar with a wonderful view. Menerbes is an excellent base for visiting other Luberon villages such as Bonnieux,,Oppede le vieux,Gault and further afield Isle sur La Sorgue to the north and Lourmarin to the south. Lovonne and Cristelle made sure our stay went without a problem. I have recommended the property to a number of friends and am looking forward to returning to resume our exploration of the many attractions of Provence.
