Stunning barn conversion 1km from Menerbes, 3 bedrooms plus studio, sleeps 8

 

La Jaume is a converted old barn that brings the cool of modern design to Provence. From the beautifully equipped kitchen to the huge deck round the heated pool with a view, the house has been created around the idea of modern comforts and timeless pleasures.

Living Rooms

On the ground floor the kitchen, dining room and living room are all open-plan and open onto the south-facing terrace and garden.

 

The living room has a funky wood-burning stove, TV/DVD, WiFi internet and very comfortable L-shaped sofa.

 

The kitchen is open-plan with the dining room and beyond that the living room.

The kitchen in wood and steel has 4-ring cooker, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, big fridge-freezer with wine cabinet. The dining table is next to the kitchen and beyond that is the outside dining table. Also downstairs, off the kitchen, is the laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

The house is equipped with a cot and high-chair.



Bedrooms

There are three double bedrooms in the main house, with two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, as well as two separate WCs. The poolhouse can be used as a studio sleeping 2.

Bedroom 1 (above) and bedroom 2 (below) have the same configuration and view over the garden to the Luberon mountain. The beds are 140cm and 160cm wide.

The high-end bathroom upstairs features jacuzzi bath tub and big walk-in shower.

Upstairs is the luxury bathroom with big walk-in shower, standalone bath with jacuzzi jets, and double basin.

Bedroom 3 (above right) has a 140cm-wide double bed1. The downstairs bathroom (above left) has a shower and basin, and there is a separate WC next to it.

 

 

If you need extra sleeping quarters in addition to the 3 bedrooms in the main house, the pool house can sleep two people, either on the mezzanine or the fold-out sofa-bed.

There is a bathroom with walk-in shower, basin and WC.

The poolhouse is equipped with a summer kitchen with fridge.

As it is 60 metres from the main house this is a good option for a couple or teenagers who want more privacy.

 

Inside the pool house are kitchen, bathroom, sofa-bed and mezzanine bed.





Garden & Pool

The large garden extends over lawn and vineyard to the heated pool and poolhouse set 60 metres from the house (the pool has a rigid cover for security). Beyond the pool is a wooded hill and this is a garden that provides a good play area for children as well as interest for adults.

 

The pool is big enough to swim lengths - 17 x 5m (56 x 16 ft) - and is heated. There is a vast wooden deck all around, edged by carefully planted stone beds, and it is deliberately placed at a high part of the land 60 metres from the house for the view as far as Mont Ventoux. The pool has an electronic rigid cover for safety.

 

The pool house has a summer kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher and an outside table and chairs for meals. There are showers inside and out, and a WC.

To the front of the house the living room and kitchen open onto a shaded patio with dining table and chairs, and barbecue.

Beyond the lawn the garden gives way to a small vineyard, and after that comes the pool.

The house has secure off-street parking for several cars.




The Location

The closest village is Menerbes, which is 800m (half a mile) away. The village of Menerbes is a wonderful location and ideal for exploring the rest of the Luberon and Provence. Menerbes has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, bakery, and a small grocery store.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Within an hour are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages, and in Menerbes itself there is a market on Thursdays.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Lovely home in paradise

If you want the quick summary, this is a lovely home in which to base yourself in this most beautiful area of France. Its a very comfortable, well equipped, value for money, quiet, picturesque residence on the outskirts of Menerbes, one of the most beautiful of the beautiful villages in this part of Provence. We have been to the property on 2 separate occasions in the last 5 years the last being a 2 week stay, we'd come more often but live in Sydney. Neither have disappointed. We were travelling with 2 young adults who wanted (and got) their own space and wifi, parents that wanted peace (and got it) and a grandmother who enjoyed the tranquility the house so easily offers. The residence includes a pool which is very much separate from the house, and has a pool house in which one of the boys took up residence. Its basic but comfortable. The house has good bedrooms that remained cool and were very comfortable, a lovely outdoor area and a very function kitchen. Whilst the overall location is very quiet, its is well placed, either to Menerbes itself, the house sitting at the green base of this beautiful elevated village, or to many of the villages in the surrounding areas. There is a very large supermarket not 10 minutes by car and easy road access to the surrounding regions. The lease is simple and Denis the owner responsive to communications. Once leased, you are met at the property but all was self explanatory. When we had one small issue with an appliance assistance was quick and resolved it very competently. That was our only issue over 2 stays. Both stays have only left us wanting more (we will return in 2019) such is the effect of this residence and its location. We hope you get the opportunity to enjoy it.

Highly recommended

Fantastic home in stunning location. Denis and Maud were very quick to respond throughout the whole process and easy to deal with. The house is really well equipped. Full of great art and stylish furniture. Huge garden/grounds, including private vineyard. Fantastic saltwater pool which we all enjoyed. Surrounded by beautiful towns and villages with plenty of options for places to eat and drink - the nearest town (Menerbes) is very picturesque and approx 2 min drive! Our family and friends loved our time here and would certainly recommend.

Great!

We had a great time at La Jaume. The house was good and we especially enjoyed our daily lap swimming and playing in the pool and regular petanque. I even got to pick some ripe cherries and make a cherry tarte tatin .

Included in the rental rates: bedlinen, towels, pool towels, utilities, WiFi internet, and after-stay clean. Also included are garden and pool maintenance.

To secure a booking you would send a 25% deposit, with the balance payable up to 8 weeks before your stay.

There is a refundable security deposit of 900 euros against any breakages or damage.
 Rental periods run from Saturday 5pm to Saturday 10am.

Cancellation policy: if we can find another booking for your dates we will return any money sent (minus bank charges).

The house is for a maximum of 8 people. We regret that pets and smoking are not allowed in the house.
