The Location

Roussillon has an extraordinary palette of colours, testament to its past as a major ochre producer.
The house is right on the edge of Roussillon, one of the most stunning villages in France. Roussillon is a medieval hill-top village, known and loved for its amazing palette of ochre colours. It has all the amenities you need within 5 minutes/300 metres walk of the house: restaurants and cafes, grocery, bakery, butcher, doctor, pharmacy, small specialist stores, galleries and a weekly market.
Roussillon is one of the perched, hilltop villages that make the Luberon region of Provence such a fascinating place to visit. Other nearby hilltop villages include Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, and Goult, all within 20 minutes.
There is a market in Roussillon on Thursday mornings, and a Luberon market in neighbouring villages every day of the week.
From this base you can explore the Luberon, its villages and markets, and close by you will find Avignon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Isle sur la Sorgue, Les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Aix en Provence, Orange, Arles, Nimes, Marseille, the Camargue, Gorges du Verdon, to name just some of the great days out an easy drive away. The fishing village of Cassis on the Mediterranean is 90 minutes away, and the French Riviera 2-3 hours.

Fantastic villa! Fantastic views! Fantastic location!
We rented this villa for a week in late August for a big family get together with ages 5 months to 70 years. All had a wonderful time. The villa is in an outstanding location. It has incredible views out across the Luberon but is also just a few minutes walk from the middle of Roussillon. It's very nice to be able to wander into town to grab a drink or fresh croissant or just to take in the beauty of the town. The villa is well appointed with modern decor and everything works well. The kitchen in particular are well equipped - we were able to make several big family meals very easily. The owner is an outstanding host - very responsive by email and always going the extra mile to ensure our needs and concerns were addressed. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous Villa
We have stayed at this villa twice now which I guess immediately shows what we think of it. I would echo all the comments of the previous reviewers. The view from the villa is stunning, it's extremely tastefully furnished and very well equipped. We all enjoy cooking and unusually for a rental villa there was almost every utensil you need. However if you don't want to cook the village of Rousillon with its many restaurants is only a pleasant 5 minute stroll away. Our dealings with Jan both prior and during our stay were also excellent. He responds to e mail almost instantly and is unfailingly polite and helpful. I would wholeheartedly recommend this villa.

A wonderful place in a wonderful part of the world
The villa is in a glorious situation just on the edge of the idyllic village of Roussillon with astonishing views extending into the valley to Gordes and Mont Ventoux in the distance. There are many restaurants and a decent supermarket and boulangerie within easy walking distance. The villa is large and well equipped. There are 2 kitchens and 2 living rooms and lots of space both indoors and out. We have stayed twice now and had amazing holidays!
