The Location

Roussillon has an extraordinary palette of colours, testament to its past as a major ochre producer.
The house is 1km from Roussillon, one of the most stunning villages in France. Roussillon is a medieval hill-top village, known and loved for its amazing palette of ochre colours. It has all the amenities you need: restaurants and cafes, grocery, bakery, butcher, doctor, pharmacy, small specialist stores, galleries and a weekly market.
Roussillon is one of the perched, hilltop villages that make the Luberon region of Provence such a fascinating place to visit. Other nearby hilltop villages include Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, and Goult, all within 20 minutes.
There is a market in Roussillon, right on your doorstep, on Thursday mornings, and a Luberon market in neighbouring villages every day of the week.
From this base you can explore the Luberon, its villages and markets, and close by you will find Avignon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Isle sur la Sorgue, Les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Aix en Provence, Orange, Arles, Nimes, Marseille, the Camargue, Gorges du Verdon, to name just some of the great days out an easy drive away. The fishing village of Cassis on the Mediterranean is 90 minutes away, and the French Riviera 2-3 hours.

A lovely spacious farmhouse, perfect for an extended family holiday
We have just returned from a lovely holiday at La Madone. The house and accommodation and the pool and garden were perfect for our extended family reunion. We were ten adults and five children under seven and we had a really happy week together. The pool for us was a highlight of the week. It is attractive, spacious, and well furnished with loungers. We were initially concerned about safety with so many small children but the pool is slightly out of sight and away from the rest of the garden and so going to it was 'an event', and it was easy to supervise and provided many hours of fun. We loved the pizza oven and enjoyed the number of outdoor tables for eating in different and lovely parts of the patios and garden! Nadège cooked for us for three of the evenings and that was a real treat. It's not a cheap option but the cooking is excellent and Nadege provided delicious food and generous quantities. The house is much more extensive than the photos can show, and there are bedrooms off a number of different areas which allows for plenty of choice. We would love to return sometime!

A wonderful week with friends!
We are a group of friends who spend a week together in an interesting place/country about every four years. This is our fourth adventure together. La Madone is located right up the road from what was Les Reys, where we stayed in 2001, near the charming town of Roussillon. It is a perfect location to explore the hill towns of Provence and extend our investigations to the entire Luberon area of the Vaucluse Provence. The property has a main house which included bedrooms and bathrooms for each of the 5 couples, and a couple of extra bedrooms we didn't use. It has a workable kitchen with plenty of plates, silverware, glasses, and cooking pans which we used when we prepared our traditional themed dinners, on two nights; and where the chef prepared us a delicious meal one night. The refrigerator is ample plus a spare refrigerator, a frozen frig, and a wine cellar for all of the food and drinks necessary for a fun week. Two dishwashers make it a breeze to clean up! The stove/oven is a good one, too. There are also several areas with large tables inside and outside, so choosing the perfect spot to dine adds to the enjoyment. The swimming pool, just a short walk from the house was a life-saver after a hot day of sight-seeing; a natural gathering place. We did not need to use the Artist's Studio. Our host, Nadege, was a sweetheart and helped us understand the washing machine as well as the general household functions. She also secured the chef, Peter, to cook us one dinner, which was delicious! She was always available, if we needed another tutorial on how to do something. The property representative, Vanya, gave us a great list of restaurants in the area, as well as suggestions of things to do. The villa was charming and was kept clean and maintained, so we all felt it was truly our home away from home. There was plenty of room and conversational places to sit and view the surroundings and/or read/talk. We would all recommend it to other groups for a fun place to spend a week together.

Perfect Wedding, Ventoux and friends at La Madone
La Madone was the perfect setting to bring our best friends (14) from around the globe to celebrate both our marriage and our love of cycling with wonderful backdrop of Mont Ventoux. Nadège is a wonderful housekeeper and helped us in so many ways, from our wedding cake to dry cleaning and vegan food, she was so passionate about our visit being perfect. La Madone is so spacious our guests never felt too cosy and mixed weather gave us the opportunity to use the huge sofas to read from a great bookcase and play games... We never ate dinner away from the house, we used the outdoor eating areas every day and the kitchen facilities were outstanding. In summary, a perfect spot for a group of friends or family with different agendas and we were all emotional when we left... #teamepic, we hope to come back for an anniversary soon. Thank you Nadege and Yvan
