The Location

Roussillon has an extraordinary palette of colours, testament to its past as a major ochre producer.
The house is right in the middle of Roussillon, one of the most stunning villages in France. Roussillon is a medieval hill-top village, known and loved for its amazing palette of ochre colours. It has all the amenities you need: restaurants and cafes, grocery, bakery, butcher, doctor, pharmacy, small specialist stores, galleries and a weekly market.
Although in the heart of the village, the rooms face outwards to the glorious view so it is a calm and quiet house.
Roussillon is one of the perched, hilltop villages that make the Luberon region of Provence such a fascinating place to visit. Other nearby hilltop villages include Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, and Goult, all within 20 minutes.
There is a market in Roussillon, right on your doorstep, on Thursday mornings, and a Luberon market in neighbouring villages every day of the week.
From this base you can explore the Luberon, its villages and markets, and close by you will find Avignon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Isle sur la Sorgue, Les Baux de Provence, St Remy, Aix en Provence, Orange, Arles, Nimes, Marseille, the Camargue, Gorges du Verdon, to name just some of the great days out an easy drive away. The fishing village of Cassis on the Mediterranean is 90 minutes away, and the French Riviera 2-3 hours.

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful village
This was a very well appointed, spacious apartment, with a lovely balcony with a great view and was perfect for 2 couples but would have also suited 3 couples as there was 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Clean, comfortable, and with everything you could want for a week (or more) holiday. Set in a lovely little village with plenty of restaurants and shops, great walking trail and an easy drive (as long as you don't mind narrow windy roads) to other villages and attractions. A fantastic relaxing week.

Great view and location!
This home is right in the middle of the village of Roussillon - perfect location for a home base to wander, shop, and dine and then explore all the nearby villages. Bedrooms were ample, but twin-bedded room more suitable for kids than two adults sharing. Wonderful terrace for a glass of wine or breakfast, and a great kitchen, full-size refrigerator. Housekeeping was great to respond to any need or question we had. Staircase has no railing, so not so great for kids or older folk. We had all we needed to feel right at home and enjoy the village and explore the area.
