Superb hill-top house with towering views over all the Luberon

Theleme is an exceptional, large 3-bedroom house half a mile from the beautiful village of Roussillon, with an outstanding vista all around. All rooms are on the ground floor.

The living room is a beautiful space with central fireplace and three walls of windows.

The light and spacious living room.

On one side of the fireplace is the dining table, and on the other sofa and armchairs with concealed flat-screen TV.

A kitchen to inspire cooks.

The kitchen is a dream for the keen chef, with a La Cornue 120 cooking range with two ovens, 4 gas burners and a central French plaque. American fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso and coffee machine, as well as plenty of workspace. There is a separate laundry with washer and dryer, and guest WC.

All the rooms are on the ground floor except for the observatory room at the top of the 'tower'. From here views are extraordinary and if you are artistically inclined, there are few spots as inspiring. On the way up the stairs, central bookshelves curl their way up, with a great library of English-language books and DVDs.

Electric piano looking onto the courtyard, and the library of books and movies going up the staircase.

Totally Splendid!

Five women who have travelled several times together and stayed in Italian and now French villas have nothing but superlatives to give Theleme and its owner Théo who is most accommodating. The house is amazingly comfortable with lots of style and elegance. We loved the 3 bedrooms being on the main floor and the lovely kitchen which just eases one into cooking. The openess of the dining and living room separated by a magnificent fireplace gave a feeling of airiness and warmth. The sunsets were amazing over the infinity pool with the village of Gordes in direct site. After visiting many of the quaint hill towns, we all decided Roussillon was our favorite with restaurants and lovely shops. You can't go wrong with a stay at Theleme.

Just a piece of paradise!

This villa is spectacular. We rented it the first week in October 2017. The location was near beautiful towns and out of the hustle and bustle enough so it was quiet and relaxing. The layout of the villa lent itself to camaraderie with my friends plus plenty of privacy… Clean and well maintained and FULLY equipped for a kitchen (I wish my kitchen at home was as well equipped for cooking and entertaining). We cooked our meals every night as it was so much fun with the fabulous ‘cooker’ (stove). But do not expect a garlic press or a measuring cup. OOO la la the french don’t measure and they have a fabulous quick way of mincing garlic….by hand. Property was well maintained and the pool was crystal clear and inviting (even though it was October). Theo, the owner, answered all our questions by email promptly and clearly was on top of everything. This is a dream vacation villa and I highly recommend it…..

Superb modern luxe

This year we didn't book our usual place as the owner asked us if they could give our booking to somebody who wanted to book it for a month. So, we forgot about our annual holiday in the Luberon – and by a sheer stroke of luck we emailed Theo only six weeks ago in July and she did indeed have a week available at the end of August. Well, we are just so thrilled at the serendipity that brought us here. Theo has been amazing right from the start. Not your usual contract-filling, on-the-dot-arrival-time kind of host, but a genuinely friendly, generous and warm person. We weren't certain from the photos whether the house would be right for us - the main thing we wanted to know that was missing was - what is the view from the pool like? A: Across the valley to Gordes - stunning! And is there any shade by the pool? A: yes a beautiful grapevine covered pergola with table, loungers and sofa, right by the pool. The best thing about Theleme for me as a mum of 2 pre-teens is that I don't have to get them out of the pool while I cook dinner – the kitchen looks right over the pool - as does the main outdoor sitting area and the living room. The house itself is expansive and very solidly built. There are no flimsy details and no shortcuts here. The pool is absolutely fantastic and having checked and compared with quite a few houses in the higher price brackets I would be surprised if many have a pool this good. This has been such a great surprise holiday and today I have sent Theo a text to book the house for two weeks next year. It's outstanding value for money and we feel right at home. Thank you Theo!
