Living Rooms

One of the two living rooms and the dining room which opens onto the terrace through French doors.

View from the kitchen.

The house is on 3 levels, the entrance on street level and then upstairs to the living rooms: two living rooms, a TV den, kitchen and dining room.

One living room has an open fireplace, the other a wood-burning stove. There is WiFi internet throughout and internet phone giving free calls to North America, UK and France.

The kitchen is well equipped with American fridge-freezer with ice and cold water dispensers, 4-ring cooker, oven, dishwasher and microwave. On this level there are two guest WCs and downstairs is the laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

The kitchen is a lovely light space with great views and has access to the terrace

Master bedroom.

The house can be 2 or 3 bedrooms, and has different rates for each configuration. Bedrooms are on the level above the living area, and each bedroom has its own bathroom.

The master bedroom (pictured left) has a 1.8m/6ft-wide bed and a terrace with the valley view. Behind the bed is the bathroom (below) with bath-tub, walk-in shower, double basins and separate WC.

Master bathroom.

The second bedroom (below) is up a separate staircase from the master bedroom, and has two single beds that can be pushed together and en suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC. The view is out over the valley.

Bedroom 2 and its en suite bathroom.

Bedroom 3, the Loft bedroom (below) is next to the master bedroom and has two single beds. Its bathroom has shower, basin and WC. There is a 10% increase in the rate if this bedroom is needed.

To the front is the terrace which is accessed from the kitchen, one living room, and mainly through the French doors of the dining room. This terrace is one floor up from the street level so is very private, and it has the view of the Luberon mountain and along the vineyards and lavender fields. It is a great place to sit out especially at sunset, as it faces west.

Front of house from the street. Terrace dining table with a terrific view.

There are dining table and chairs for 8 on the terrace and an awning for shade, alongside the Weber barbecue. Upstairs off the master bedroom is a second terrace with sunloungers and the same view (below right).

Main terrace extends along the front of the house, one floor up from street level. Looking out from the upstairs terrace, off the master bedroom.

There is one parking space in front of the house, and there is additionally free street parking in Saignon.

The Location

The house is right in the delightful village of Saignon, perched high over the Luberon valley, so it has that great view along the valley as well as being a minute's stroll to the amenities of a Provencal village - restaurants, a great bakery and basic groceries. Saignon is one of the little-known gems of the Luberon, unspoilt and preserved.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 30 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

The nearest town with supermarket, etc. is Apt, 7 minutes away, which also has a municipal pool. On Saturday mornings Apt market is the biggest market in the Luberon with up to 300 stalls. There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages.

Within 90 minutes are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail at Chateauneuf du Pape.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Charm galore

In the middle of Covid we drove across from Venice and discovered the charming house in Saignon we had spotted only in photos. Well, the reality was even better. The village is a gem and the house felt like home. We were met by Joanna who was so so helpful in showing us the ropes. My wife and I were joined by my brother and his wife and we all enjoyed many lunches on the terrace in total privacy. We explored many of the surrounding villages and our conclusion at the end was that Saignon would always have been our first choice. We hope to return.

Lovely Home from Home

Beautiful accommodation which is a real home from home. Everything is supplied and the house is really well equipped. Very spacious and comfortable with beautiful views. The house was very clean and thank you for the lovely welcome goodies and the friendly welcome from Joanna. We loved the village of Saignon and trips to the boulangerie. A great location to explore the area from. We were sad to leave and wish our holiday had been longer. We look forward to returning at some point in the future. Thank you for sharing your well loved home.

Home away from home

We had a great time staying at Belle Lumiére in the beautiful village of Saignon. The house was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. It was fully equipped with BBQ, wash machine, fridge. The spacious kitchen was very well outfitted. All the rooms were beautifully furnished and both terraces had great views. The location was perfect for touring Provence and it was a pleasure after a long day to return to the house and enjoy the evening on the terrace. The owners of the house were very accommodating and easy to deal with. The house manager was friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. She provided us with lots of information on what to see and do and was a great help to us. We would highly recommend Belle Lumiére to anyone.
