Villa Saignon, Saignon, Provence

Provence village house for 7 with garden, pool and views

Villa Saignon has everything you might hope for in a Luberon village rental house: great country view; heated pool and garden; and a minute's walk to the amenties of the village. It sleeps 7 people in 4 bedrooms.

The house circled in red in the stunning Provence village of Saignon.

Living Rooms

The kitchen with dining room alongside.

On the ground floor are the living and kitchen/dining room.

The kitchen has 4-ring cooker, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. Under the stairs are the clothes washing machine and dryer.

By the kitchen is the sunny dining room with dual aspect windows. The table seats 4, and the outside table seats up to 10.

 Dining table in sunny room.

Living room with comfortable sofas and TV/DVD.

The living room has leather sofas and TV/DVD with French TNT channels. There is WiFi internet throughout. Also downstairs is the guest WC.

The house has a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and upstairs are two doubles and a single sharing a bathroom.

Downstairs master bedroom with its en suite bathroom.

The master bedroom (above) is on the ground floor and has a 1.4m-wide bed (4.5ft). Its en suite bathroom has walk-in shower and basin.

The two double bedrooms upstairs.

Upstairs are the two double bedrooms (above), each with a 1.4m-wide bed, looking out over the garden.

Upstairs bathroom. 4th bedroom with single bed.

The last bedroom is a child's single room (above right). The three upstairs bedrooms share the bathroom with bath and hand-held shower, basin and WC.

Garden & Pool

Next to the pool is a dedicated petanque/boules court (left).

The garden is 150 square metres (1600 square feet), excluding the heated pool which is 12m x 6m (40 x 20ft). So a very good size for a village house. From the garden you have a great view down the Luberon valley.

The front terrace is shaded and inlcudes dining, comfortable garden furniture and BBQ.

The pool has an electric sliding cover for security and is heated. At the shallow end is a 'beach' for small children and then roman steps down.

This is a sizeable garden for a village house and the view is far over the Luberon valley.

At the front of the house the shaded terrace provides a lovely place to eat and relax. On the terrace is the dining table and chairs, and separately a comfortable seating area by the gas barbecue.

Outside relaxation areas and barbecue.

In the garden are a table tennis table in the shade, and a boules/petanque court.

Table tennis/ping pong in the shade by the pool.

There is a gated entrance and off-street parking.

The Location

The house is right in the delightful village of Saignon, perched high over the Luberon valley, so it has that great view along the valley as well as being a minute's stroll to the amenities of a Provencal village - restaurants, bread and basic groceries. Saignon is one of the little-known gems of the Luberon, unspoilt and preserved.

All the other picture-perfect 'perched' hill-top villages of the Luberon are within 30 minutes by car: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Bonnieux, and Goult. Just beyond are the antiques capital of Isle sur la Sorgue and the very lovely Fontaine de Vaucluse.

The nearest town with supermarket, etc. is Apt, 10 minutes away. On Saturday mornings Apt market is the biggest market in the Luberon with up to 300 stalls. There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages.

Within 90 minutes are Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux de Provence, Orange, and the start of the Rhone wine trail at Chateauneuf du Pape.

You can make a comfortable day-trip of the Cote d'Azur from Monte Carlo to St Tropez, Marseille, the fishing village of Cassis and the calanques, Arles, Nimes, the Camargue, the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, and the Rhone wine trail all the way to Lyon.

Perfect peaceful family holiday

We had a wonderful family holiday. The garden and terraces were perfect for lounging, reading, dining and playing! The pool was a fantastic hit with our little boy. Saignon is a beautiful peaceful village. We enjoyed resting our eyes on stunning views across the countryside. We will return!

Villa Saignon

Myself and family of 7 stayed at Villa Saignon for 2 weeks in July 2014 – it is one of the best holidays we have ever had. The house and gardens are very well cared for by the owners, a lovely French couple who live not too far away. The pool area has nice comfortable sun loungers (not those cheap white plastic ones), is surrounded by a pretty garden along with a boules area and shaded table tennis table. The house has a large sheltered dining table and a separate comfortable seating area that we sat in every night to chat, play cards etc. There is also an immaculate large gas barbeque we used several times. The upstairs rooms are bright and comfortable with a shared large bathroom, the downstairs bedroom having an en-suite shower. The village tops a hill, so there was a breeze most nights which kept us cool and also the insects away. The charming village is just wonderful, a fine bakery/salon de the, a few places to eat out and lots of stairways and alleys to explore up to the viewpoint around which the village is built. Villa Saignon is a fabulous place to unwind, sunbathe and is superbly placed for short drives to many picturesque village of Provence – Gordes, Bonnieux, the spectacular Fort de Boux. We can't recommend it highly enough.

A great stay.

M. and Mme Allard the owners are the friendliest people you hope to rent from. The house is absolutely fantastic : loads of provencal charm and every amenity you can think of was provided. The indoors are great; the oudoors are fabulous. The photos don't do the house total justice!! Barely back in the States but we are already thinking of returning. Not a single complaint and lots of praise.
